When did they start making Topps Factory Team Sets?

When did they start making Topps Factory Team Sets like this -

Factory Team Set

The reason that I ask is because these are technically different cards than the regular base issue because they are numbered differently.

Are they numbered differently? I've been seeing factory team sets like these for a while now in the last couple of years, but never bothered with them.

Yes, they are for sure numbered differently. I found out because I was going to send off a 2006 Albert Pujols to PSA (I have one PSA 9 or 10 regular base Topps Pujols). As I was filling out the form, I looked on the back and it was number (I think, something like) STL - 1. After investigating, I found out that this card was from the factory team set.

Edited to say - look at the above Ebay item and look at the picture of the back of the box. It gives the numbering there.

  • The Upper Deck Collectors Choice Team Sets from a couple years back are different numbered as well.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

I didn't know that either...I have several of those...I had simply never opened them because big Frank is on the front.
