Seated Quarters - guess the grade and a poll

Here's a couple of Seated Quarters I have. I need to choose one to put in my Dansco 7070 so guess the grades and if you have an opinion on which one I should put in the album feel free to tell me.

The color is pretty good but I just can't get the detail I want, and was getting a couple of weeks ago. They are the best pictures I've been able to take lately so they'll have to do.

#1 1877 Seated Quarter

#2 1891 Seated Quarter

  • Both Nice - I think that the 1877 would look better in the Dansco. AU58.

Both seem to be nice coins but one can not say which would be more appropriate in your particular 7070 without seeing the other coins already in the album. If I were you I'd pick which ever coin matched best the coins you've already placed.

Here's some earlier pictures of my Dansco 7070. I do have quite a few upgrades I need to crack and take some new pictures.

My gut reaction was that I liked the color on the 91 better....but after looking longer I'm kinda falling for the 77....

That's exactly how I felt. When I received the '91 I said that was the one, then the '77 came along and I still said the '91 was the one until I started taking pictures so now I'm thinking the '77. We'll see, maybe I'll close my eyes and take a hammer to both and the one that comes out first will be in the album.

    I like the year 1877.
Both coins are nice by the way.

I'd grade both as AU53-ish. I prefer the aesthetics of the 1891, personally.

Some 'cabinet friction' is apparent on the arm, cheek, leg and two other places of the 1891. That gets my vote.

My brain is very simple tonight.
