Does The Label On This 1956 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 8 Look Different?

Does the label on this 1956 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 8 look odd and/or different to you? Or am I just being paranoid as usual? The label in question is the one to the far left and I've posted three (3) examples to the right. Thanks.

  • The label does look funny. Not to mention it looks like there is not as much white border around the card (especially side to side) as there is on the other 3. Trimmed?

The cert # is good, but the funny thing is that they list the card as a gray back when you look it up, but it does not mention the gray back on the flip.

God You guys are good. Thank god I am not in the market for a 56 Mantle card, as the card on the left would not have sent any sort of red flags up for me.

That booboo account looks a little bit hijacked.

It's been a buying account ONLY, for 8-years.

    It went silent in July.

It has three "salt the mine" sales since it resurfaced last month. For a total of 3 lifetime sales.

    .............

ALL of the cards do look like the Craig's List stuff.

Previously, I posted this link to an auction for a 1956 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 8 with a suspicious looking flip. See image below. It's the card with the PSA serial number 06140409. The general consensus was that the flip appeared fake.

Well tonight, another 1956 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 8 sold tonight for $2,500.00. Again, the flip looks suspicious. See image below. The PSA serial number is 05004819. Again, I have no idea what the sellers are doing, or if the buyers are actually receiving the cards, but I truly believe some kind of scam is doing on here. I hope no one here on the boards get taken.

Could not even photoshop the numbers on straight, look how they angle downward.

What do you guys mean by "craigs list" and "flip"? I buy graded cards sometimes, and I wouldn't have question this card. Thanks.

Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.

Craig List is a website to try and sell an item from small to big. Flip is a reference to the PSA label inside the holder.

The first one looks to have the wrong font altogether on the flip. PSA would probably be able to neg that on sight as I'm sure they maintain a constant font during printing (I know it's changed in the past, but I'd bet money that they've never used that font/size combo on a flip).

I suspect and fear that MANY folks who went to the olympics,
brought MANY bad things home in their luggage.

It is reasonable to believe that the FBI is well aware that some
    bad stuff is happening.

It is unclear to me why neither LE nor CLCT have made public
statements/warnings on the matter. I am all for catching the
crooks - not scaring them off - but it might be more important
to protect consumers by blowing a loud whistle NOW.

  • The hyphen between NM and MT is obviously different. More so then the rest of the printing.
  • There is another 56 Mantle on e-bay. I couldn't upload the image for some reason but the item # is 220295337510. Its graded CSA 8. Its looks like its chipped on the two corners. I remember opening up a couple of CSA cards cases and that is how it looked.

Is it possible that this is an old slab? I know PSA has changed their printing over the years. Maybe it was an early sub? That would suck if it was, I would have missed it.
