1889CC PCGS MS-68 Morgan..anyone see this in person?

looking thru the Heritage catalog..noticed they have a 1889CC PCGS MS- 68 Morgan coming up in the FUN auction....curious ,anyone seen a MS-68 in person ?

  • Yes, this is a famous coin; it is the Eliasberg specimen, and it is also the finest known '89-CC dollar. I have seen it in person.
    In truth, I believe the coin is graded generously, and is more likely a 67 - but it doesn't really matter, because it is the finest known regardless.

    I have seen this particular coin in person and I have no issues about its technical attributes. Whether the surface toning can be considered attractive or a hinderance is subjective and in the eye of the examiner.

    Speaking of other Morgans that are not 1889-CC's and graded MS68, they tend not to be terribly difficult to locate at most of the larger coin shows. Currently I have two in inventory.
