New Mexican "Pillar Dollar" Sets

Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is with great pleasure that PCGS offers the opportunity to compete in Mexican Pillar Dollar sets from the reign of Ferdinand VI (1747-1760).
You may view the sets at:
http://pcgs.com/setregistry/default.aspx?c=219
Soon, we'll be adding similar sets from the reign of Charles III (1760-1771).
Have fun!

Hope all is well with you.
That should be a great registry.
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
Does this mean we'll be looking at a new "War of Independence - Royalists", "War of Independence - Insurgents" sets in no time

<< <i>Great continuation of the Mexican theme, Ron! Thank you!

I think the best, most diplomatic answer to your question is: "Some day."
BJ has given me a least of requested sets that will take some time to work through. If anyone has a favorite set they'd like to see on the list, speak now and we'll append them to the queue.

terrific idea
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
<< <i>We're using Krause-Mishler plus the PCGS Pop Report for new varieties that we've seen. We can always edit the set compositions as new varieties are discovered or old ones are debunked.
Thanks for asking. >>
If you're using Krause and the Pop Report, it would make the job of implementing different "Cap and Rays" sets much easier. There are quite a few different ways you can structure the series to make it very appealing and competitive.
Just some thoughts:
1. One from each mint (8 Reales)
2. Date runs for select mints (8 Reales), starting with the most popular ones (Mexico City, Zacatecas, Chihuahua) to ensure participation from the start.
3. Complete set for a specific mint of minors.
4. Overdates and Over-assayers only set (8 Reales) based on current Krause / PCGS populations with a strong message that PCGS would add new types as they are discovered, which would drive people to submit their varieties that they have not previously submitted for the fear of not getting it attributed.
5. One of each obverse eagle (8 Reales) - very fun set, geared heavily towards pre-standardized dies era.
6. ... and of course - COMPLETE Cap'n'Rays 8 Reales set for those collectors that attempt the (nearly) impossible.
I would volunteer some of my time to help with set definitions, if necessary.

Very good assessment on the various ways to collect Cap and Rays 8 reales.
I started by mint, a couple of mints are still blank. Then progressed to more of a date set.
I would really like to evolve into an eagle design set. This would take more knowledge than I current possess.
