Roy Williams to Dallas...

Dallas gives Detroit 1, 3 & 6 round picks. Good deal for Detroit, although they'll draft 3 players that will be off the team in 2 years anyways. Dallas gets a guy capable of big plays in Roy, but a guy that seems to have trouble making the basic play since he's been here. Adios Roy. Detroit couldn't afford him next year anyways, so getting anything was good.

    << <i>No 1st rd pick according to espn >>

    According to the story in that link it's a 1st, 3rd and a 6th.
  • Ya that sux, i was hoping they wouldn't have to give up a 1st

Good gawd the rumors the past two days mentioned a 2nd and two 3rds. It's the Joey Galloway trade all over again. image

Sam Hurd goes down and the CBoys trade the house for a has been WR? I would be happy with TO, Crayton and Whitten. Way too much
to give up for a guy who sucks. I will agree with Zach, Detroit will squander the picks.

    As per ESPN.com:

The Cowboys will give up a first-round pick in 2009, plus a third- and sixth-rounder that year for Williams and a seventh-round pick in '09.
  • Williams is a great WR stuck in Motown, I was hoping he would go to the Vikes, damn.

1st 3rd and 6th for williams and a 7th. cowboys also got back a 5th from titans bc pacman is a dumb a$$! cowboys had an extra 3rd from detroit anyway.

so basically cowboys gave up lets say the 20-32nd pick in the draft for roy williams. im happy as heck. TO will be happy also they wont be able to triple cover him anymore.

romo will be back for giants game also i believe. they should take care of rams. ucs will be tough. giants didnt look to impressive last night at all. plus they havent played anyone this year.

    skins
    rams
    bengals
    seahawks
browns they should be 4-1. or 5-0.

The Rams should have made this deal .... even though their offensive line is just that.
Looking for a Glen Rice Inkredible and Alex Rodriguez cards
  • The Cowboys gave up too much to get him, Williams has a bad habit of dropping the ball (not a good thing for a receiver).

A good move for the Lions who were going nowhere this year anyway and for Williams who gets away from that horrible team.

When Jerry Jones wants somebody he will do what it takes to get him even if it doesn't make sense.

After watching Roy play for the past 4 years, I'll say I believe the price was too heavy. Roy has a good attitude, so that wasn't the problem here. The problem was him catching the 3rd and 4 pass. The problem was him running good routes. The guy is a big feller with big ol' mitts. He should be able to catch almost anything. He just doesn't. Calvin is already better than Roy, and they weren't going to be able to afford them both. Roy wouldn't of re-signed here anyway

I hope Roy works out in Dallas. I like the guy and thought he was funny and exciting to watch. In the end though, I'm just not all that disappointed he left. Too many drops at key times.

Detroit finally got rid of Millen and they make some good decisions already. Kitna on IR. A great trade for Roy. Now think of how good this team will be when they get to use their 1, 3 & 6 rounds picks on some new WR's to help this team win image

  • As a wide receiver he'll make the most acrobatic difficult catch look easy, and occasionally drop an easy pass right on the numbers. He has huge upside potential in Dallas with a competent quarterback throwing the ball to him. I think it will turn out to be a great pick-up for Dallas.

I liked Miles Austin. Now that he's been catching the ball, he's been pretty darn good when given the chance to play. Now somebody will probably get him for a song because of this trade.

I think Roy will be productive in Dallas, but without a coach they're going nowhere.

Again, the key with Roy was dropping easy passes when they desperately needed to keep the drive going. He did this regularly. Further, he's not all that good at separation. Finally, he'll get more pass interference called against him than for him. He's not really a guy that can take over a game, but he can make some big plays. As I said, I liked him but he isn't as good as Calvin and not as reliable as a couple other guys the Lions have. He also will not be a big fan of playing second fiddle to Owens IMO. And for gods sake, I couldn't stand his friggin first down signals.

But hopefully he does well for the rest of his career. He at least helped make this team entertaining sometimes. Now I just have to hope the Cowboys suck so the Lions pick goes up in value image
