The NFL trade deadline is approaching fast and the Chiefs have two key players on the block. Tony Gonzalez and Larry Johnson.
Would hate to see Gonzo go, but he is getting old and I could understand him wanting to play for a contender. He no longer wants to be here, and I can't say I blame him.
Now Larry Johnson, feel free to pack your bags. Someone could use him like, maybe the Bengals (they could not do worst with him then their current crew). Their leading rusher today was someone I never heard of. Hope we set LJ's trade value low so someone will take him, like a partial eaten Giant Sized Snickers bar or the backup kicker on the practice team. I doubt any team would be dumb enough to take him off our hands (with the crazy salary we decided he was worth), but I could always hope.

ugh! Teams need to stop giving them that many carries.

Tony G; As much as I hate to see him go, I also would love to see him go somewhere that he has a chance to win. He deserves more than this right now. Hopefully KC can get something in return, but either way, I think Carl owes Tony the chance to win a playoff game.
This is from CBS Sports...
"League might act on LJ: Chiefs RB Larry Johnson was charged with pushing a woman at a Kansas City nightclub in February, the third time the Chiefs running back has been charged with assaulting a woman. He is to appear in court Dec. 3 and could face a maximum jail term of six months and a $500 fine. "I'm sure the league will get involved in it, I would assume," coach Herm Edwards said. "But I don't know that. I haven't heard anything." Edwards was evasive when asked if the two-time Pro Bowler would play this week against Tennessee. "I haven't made a decision on anybody right now," Edwards said."

The Chiefs are the worst they have ever been and I think even all the Chief fans understood we kind of owed it to him to let him go.....Carl you suck.

Also, I heard something absolutely wonderful but not likely to happen. The possibility that LJ, with his 3rd report of roughing up a woman, violating the morailty clause in his contract would be a way for the Chiefs to dump him. Carl wouldn't do it because it would mean he was wrong about giving him the contract extension, and Carl would never let himself be wrong. And the Union would probably throw a fit.
I never thought I'd say this, but I wish I was a Lions fan. At least they know that their incompetent GM is gone. And it didn't even take them 20 years to get rid of him.
If Lamar Hunt's son is anything like Lamar, Carl Peterson will probably never get fired. This is a story Peterson himself told. Forgot what city this happened in, but
One time after a game it was pouring rain and Lamar asked Carl if him and his wife could get a ride on the team bus back to their hotel. Of course Carl said yes, after all Lamar was paying for the bus. LOL.
At some point before Lamar passed away maybe he asked Carl for permission to fire him but King Carl refused.
<< <i>I couldnt agree more with almost everything said in this post. But in my opinion what is really "BROKEN" with the Chiefs is Carl Peterson!! Ibelive Kcballboy brought that up but if thats wrong Im sorry. A little off subject but Im pretty new here and a terrible typer but would you guys ( somebody) tell me how to quote from another passage. Love reading these post . Another question I have for fellow chiefs fans, PLEASE, PLEASE explain to me why we would trade Jarrod Allen for (in my opinion) nothing? I think this last offseason had to be one of the worst in team history. >>
Welcome to the board Chiefsfan,
If you want to quote a message, rather then click the reply button, click the quote beside it, under the reply you would like to quote.
I can not explain the Jarrod Allen move to you. Actually, I can't explain any of the Chiefs moves the last several years. Like drafting a kicker in the third round last year (and letting him go right away) or raising parking fees and trying to do away with tailgating, about the only thing a Chiefs fan can look forward to in current days.
My only hope now is that we lose every game and get a high enough draft pick to grab Tim Tebow (msp?), last years Heisman QB, who is also a candidate this year. Not that he could really help the mess we have either...but it would be nice to start a quarterback for a few weeks in a row.
Anyway.....here's to better days....never thought I would look back at the Marty era so positive,
Mark

Forget about getting rid of LJ, you guys gotta figure out a way to get some people in there that can stop the run, 300+ rushing yards allowed is unnaceptable. Shore up both sides of the line and go from there!
Reports are that a definite league suspension is coming, it's just a matter of for how long.
The Chiefs need shaken up, from the office to the secondary. In the last calender year, we have only one victory. I don't think they believe they can win....us fans have shown we don't think they can win...and we are all correct...we can't win. We actually do alright on defense the first half of most games, and then they just give up...like they did yesterday.
Do you not think the New England defense was ranked so high last because of the offense? They dominated the clock, the defense had a chance to take a break. When they didn't dominate the clock, it was because they scored so fast, giving the defense a clearance bar. Here is how it goes in KC. 3 and out. 3 and out. 2 and interception. 3 and out. We get a first down. 3 and out. 2 and fumble. Add in a couple sacks wherever you want for good measure. Until we can get some offense going...the defense isn't going to care or try.
All this goes back to why we needed to work the trades, and likely would have benefited from trading Gonzo. To Gonzo's credit he did say the other day something like "We have a lot of good talent and will turn it around." We crapped on him and rather then attack the office, he complimented the players.
I don't see LJ making it past the off season, so he will not be one of the problems long. Four domestic violent cases might not be an NFL record (?)...it is in KC. (Travis is correct that LJ added to his problems on the bye week). It is very likely he won't be wearing red much longer this season. Dallas has proven, problematic players do not help a team, talent alone does not win ball games. Hopefully, they will use that (crazy) salary...and not leave us one of the top three teams under the salary cap next year....and bring in some talent. I think we have to go back to 1992 to find a season we worked the off season.....when we brought in Montana and Marcus Allen. Two players do not make a team, but it instantly turned us around, and shows how a couple players can give the other players around a little more reason for that second effort.

But let me be the first to welcome Daunte Culpepper to Kansas City. It is a mess Daunte, don't get frustrated too soon, try to avoid the pass rush (our line isn't going to help much) and have fun. In fact, just try to stay healthy to beat Denver at home in week 14, you can even loss the rest of the games so we can get a high draft pick, I would likely even prefer it. Well ok, a win against the Raiders at home week 13 would be alright.

<< <i>You are right Perkdog...there is no way to win if you give up 300 plus yards. Even if you take away the two long ones, that still leaves about 200 yards. But it is not just the line, you can pass on us just as easy. It is hard however to blame the defense that much when the offense is leaving them on the field 70% of the game...we can't get 100 yards offense in a half or two first downs in a row.

mark-you are starting to spell like me
You cannot put the defense on the field for 40 plus minutes and expect good things to happen. The offense has to produce SOMETHING to give these guys a breather.
A shake-up is exactly what is needed in KC. The front office (In my opinion) for the past several years has only been intrested in winning just enough games to sell tickets, but dont spend any money doing it. I understand KC is a small market franshise but come on, we can do better than this.

We did pretty good draft considering the almost complete lack of planning by the KC office. Amazing how it sounds, the Chiefs didn't even look past round 5 before draft day, admitted by the office (see below), however it does not appear to me we looked past round 3.

This follows a move from couple months ago of banning standing and a move to do away with tailgating. Nice to see the Chiefs office is making changes as so many of fans seem to be demanding.
Or maybe it is odd to try to alienate attending fans, considering the home-field advantage the Chiefs have traditionally had:
"Undoubtedly one of the finest facilities in the NFL, Arrowhead and the fans who consistently fill it (125 consecutive sellouts) have helped produce a distinct homefield advantage for the Chiefs. During the ‘90s, no NFL team had a better regular season home winning percentage than Kansas City, which produced a 65-15 (.813) record over from ‘90-99."

It appears Culpepper told teams last week that he wanted to sign a contract for more than just the rest of this season, and that he wanted a 2009 payment of $10 million or more. Good luck there Daunte, but I have an ideal for you. How about showing someone you can suit up and play a complete game before asking for eight digits.
