Canon PowerShot A590 IS macro lens
I can get some pretty good pictures of Morgan dollars but I'm struggling dimes and half dimes.
The Canon A590 camera that I purchased a couple of months ago does have a built-in macro feature but in the manual it lists addition lenses that are available. I can get a Canon 250D 52mm macro lens with the necessary adapter for about $100. I have read some comments that a macro lens is for higher end cameras and not point and shoot. Will I get better results with the macro lens than I'm getting with the built-in macro?
Thanks,
Millertime

way of the lights. I've had some moderate success by going to the max in resolution, backing off
to about 10 inches and then enlarging the pic. Not the best solution but decent pics.

<< <i>Yes, I too have the same camera. Always a problem with the smaller coins as the camera gets in the

I started messing with white balance and now I just can't get the same quality of pictures I was starting to get. I messed something up but I don't know what.
Here's the setting I typically use.
Macro: On
Mode: AV
ISO: 80
White Balance: Custom or Fluorescent H
Drive Mode: 2 sec
Color: Vivid
Metering: Spot
The camera is a little bit above the lights which are positioned at 10:00 and 2:00. Any suggestion on the settings I'm using?
