.......... one of the most proof beautiful coins made by the Mint. Especially when the frosted devices are intensely contrasted with deep, black, watery, hairline free, spot free, mark free, toning free fields and viewed under optimal lighting. DCAM appearance with a high grade is a great combination.
A work of high art, with nothing more than the bust of JFK, "Liberty" motto and date on the obverse and with the presidential seal, stars, USA and denomination on the reverse.
I have found many frosted 1964 Kennedy proofs over the years, but most fall far short of the best in quality and grade.
I have been lucky enough to find 3 such DCAM coins in original proof sets over the past ten years, with #3 being found yesterday. All three for modest cost ($10.00 - $15.00 for each proof set). I am still waiting for the day when I find one of these same coins, but of the Accented Hair Variety
Lots of people "ho-hum" these coins, but I suspect that if they stumbled across a proof set in OGP containing such a half dollar, they would buy it immediately and upon removing the half from the mint cello to look at the coin would think "Holy Cr*p, what a beautiful coin".
