Week 6 NFL

Am I the only person that has a funny feeling that the Rams-Redskins game has the makings of a classic NFL letdown game? Don't say I didn't warn you.

Of course when the Redskins win by 48 points you can all feel free to make fun of me for picking the worst team in football to beat one of the best.

Redskins do look a lot better this year. I have even elevated Santana Moss from the worst player in the NFL position I think he held last year. Campbell is starting to click.

I will go Redskins by 14.

If I was a reckless idiot I'd be having a very good day. Tragically I don't bet sports that much and when I do it's for pocket change.
  • Nice call BTW. Sagarin ratings had the Skins -30 image

It really wasn't that great of a pick honestly. This reeked of a letdown game if you consider the following:

    - Favorite is overachieving and coming off two big road wins
    - Dog is underachieving and just got rid of a horrible coach that all the players hated
    - Jason Campbell is prominently involved
    - Jim Zorn's clock management is prominently involved
  • The early games were all great. Excellent call on the Skins/Rams game! Now if only the Cowboys can leverage this opportunity to gain a game on Washington. Based on the past three weeks it is becoming clearly evident that the NFC East is going to be a dogfight to the end. Go Browns!

I really hate the Cowboys, but I am SO glad that bush-league Mike Shanahan "last nanosecond timeout" on a last play of regulation field goal just blew up in Arizona's face.

I hate that tactic even more than I hate the Cowboys. Love it, love it, love it.

And even better, the Boys still just lost, BUT the coach looks like a fool for doing it.

Sorry you can't read between the lines:

Am I the only person that has a funny feeling that the Rams-Redskins game has the makings of a classic NFL letdown game? Don't say I didn't warn you.

That means I am picking the Rams to upset the Skins.

Of course when the Redskins win by 48 points you can all feel free to make fun of me for picking the worst team in football to beat one of the best.

That's me giving everybody permission to mock me if it doesn't happen.

  • Nice pick Lee. I have to admit I lost a Franklin on that game. Made it up with a little change on a stupid (turned out smart) bet on the Saints. Still, can't help but think you cursed me.

Doesn't matter how Lee "phrased" the pick, picking a 14 point dog to win, and it wins, is still a nice pick any way you look at it.

I won and lost a few other smallish bets, but this was definitely the best money I've invested on a gut feeling in a long while. I do not normally put money into online sportsbooks but the Rams were calling my name. Needless to say I am immediately cashing out and not betting football for the rest of the year, but will probably break down and bet something in week 13.

Actually the one I sweated out the most was the Ravens-Colts. It was 31-3 with a whole quarter to play but luckily the Colts decided to stop pouring it on. Manning could've thrown for 3 more TDs if he wanted to. The whole Peyton vs. Eli debate is ludicrous. Peyton is 200 times better on his worst day.
  • MorgothMorgoth Posts: 3,950 ✭✭✭
Eli just proved your point Monday night Lee.

It is such a silly thing to say that Eli is better than Peyton, I think that the only reason writers do it is just to have something to write about.
Peyton has been great not good but great for like 9 years in a row, Eli was good for 1/2 a year so far. He won a Superbowl and played well but so did alot of other non HOF QBs. If Peyton quit after this season I bet he still makes the HOF.

Eli has a stellar O-Line which gives him lots of time. Even against the Browns he had all day to pass but he rushed a lot of them and ended up throwing picks. The last one which effectively ended the game was not his fault though- that was one of the best plays I've seen a defender make after his guy got open.
  • MorgothMorgoth Posts: 3,950 ✭✭✭
Lee he was open but if you look at it again, Eli was off balance and the throw had nothing on it. If he could of Favred it in there he still could have completed it.
