Just a reminder RE: the MSN cashback scheme

I just wanted to remind everyone that if the seller advertises MSN cashback in their auction that MSN can nullify the cashback..

Is this speculation based on some of what has happened or is this in writing now?
    I'm curious....

(btw.....it only works when you are coming through an ISP in the US....in China, and now Taipei, I don't get any % off if I do a search using the site, so I can't use it for a few more days even if it went to 100% image )

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • well, i don't know if it's in writing or not...i haven't looked yet, but, someone told me they got an email from MSN stating their stuff had been revoked for this reason

Do you think it could be some kind of email scam.

I received a similiar email stating that the cashback was revoked with some links in it to sign into my account. I didn't use the links but went to my account, everything was ok and not revoked.
  • I'd like to see some facts to back up this claim. I recently sold a couple ounces of gold and had that in the listing, and I currently have one item up and mention it also. I have not been notified by anyone, including the buyers or MSN, that there is any problem

  • All I know is that someone I know got an email from MSN 2 weeks after the buy stating their cashback had been revoked because of "abuse" of the offer, or something to that end. Others have had theirs revoked due to accusations that they were going to resell the items (according to posts here on the board)
  • OK, I do know items bought for resell is prohibited (section 17 of the agreement IIRC), and I am not sure how they could tell that, unless you bought something in bulk. Thanks, I will keep an eye on this thread in case anyone else has more info.

There were a lot of auctions, I had seen prior, that had "cash" for the BIN and said to use the rebate to come out ahead.
I could see that being rejected.....

Has there been any validation on this yet?
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!
  • I successfully sold the last coin I mentioned above, I still have heard no issues or complaints from any of the buyers or warnings from Live.com....
