Monticello question

I have a 1983 P nickel that seems to be missing the "E" from the word Monticello. Has anybody seen or heard of it before or does anybody know what could have happened. I have looked at it with a magnifying glass and there absolutely is no "E" just an empty space (all other letters are there).
I wish I could post pictures but I don't have a camera, sorry.

The question is... why do you think it's something else? And without pictures. your guess is as good as ours. image
