Does anyone have a picture of a REAL $10 Liberty in MS61, that is totally original?

Whenever I see a dealer's website offering a MS61 $10 Liberty, I tend to cringe. Just for kicks, does anyone have a picture of a REAL MS61, which is attractive and totally original? I am sure there are some out there, so it would be nice to see some on this Black Friday to cheer us up.

It's rare to find a Lib $10 that's attractive below the grade of MS63. Most are heavily bagmarked.

I own a few $10 Libs in AU and EF that are original and attractive, but the MS61 grade is a spooky thing.

This is the most awesome circulated MS-58 $10 Liberty (1906) I have ever seen. The luster is blazing but it does suffer from toning/spotting as you can see (BUT DO remember it is CIRCULATED!) and does have a small indentation in the field to the left of Liberty. But the luster, oooh that luster!

This piece is in the 3rd oldest NGC generation after the black NGC slab and I would put this up against any MS-61 Liberty of any quality!

Here is an MS61 $10 Liberty according to NGC. The fields are highly reflective. The white mark near the date is on the holder.

Bloodman: Your 1893 looks to be a somewhat early strike from the die. Looks like it might have come off the die previously used as a proof die as it seems to have a nice cameo look to it.

It is always so difficult to photograph the reflectivity of the fields.

bloodman- that is a nice example of a proof like $10 lib. The reflective fields really show off all marks and thinking back many of the $10 libs that I have had grade MS61 and orignal were PL coins.

I would post mine, but I need to take another photo and adjust the lighting to hide the defects.

i agree with longacre when it comes to the MS61 grade the coins
are usually fugly. i stopped collecting low MS half eagles for this
very reason. i felt i was not getting good value for the money.

    Thanks for the comments.

In the $10 Liberty series, 1893 is the most common prooflike date. A total of 86 1893's have been designated as PL or DPL compared with a total of 332 from all other dates combined.

Interestingly, more 1904 $20 have been graded PL or DPL-a total of 544-than all $10 Libs combined.

the two dates I remember owning that were PLwere 1893 and 1881. The 1893 looked good enough to pass as proof. image

This one came back PCGS MS61. Probably due to the rims.

Bought from and imaged by Mike Printz. Great original color and very clean for a 61. I love it!

    soonerfaninbhm,

Great looking 61. It appears to have nice luster.

As far as pictures go, I know I can do better than this. But I could only do so if I have the coin in hand, which I do not. So here.

Sure, a 61 coin has had a hard life. Some coins do. There is room for a few in my collection.
