A medal and a new boat -- need some advice

I took a chance that the finger prints were on the 2x2 plastic.
As you can see they are not!

I don't know if there is anyway of fixing this.

The finger prints are bad but not quite a s bad as my photo light make them look.

Anyway to fix this? Would acetone work?

    Adcice would be appreciated.

I don't think so, I made the mistake of trying MS70 on a proof Canada Loonie once. It was not a good outcome. If it's a cheap coin, get another... If it's pricy and you want to keep it try NCS.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • Thanks Marty. Very cheap coin and it is Brass I think and highly refective.

I am sire I could find another it isn't rare. Just thought I might be able to "save" it.

  • I don't think acetone would hurt it, but usually once a fingerprint shows up, it has already bit into the surface.

What's the metal? Is it brass or Nordic Gold? MS70 will ruin those in a heartbeat. I don't think you're going to fix those fingerprints without destroying the coin, unfortunately.

I've tried acetone on brass coins with figerprints - did not hurt the coin but did not remove the fingerprints at all.
