  • thanks guys...i am still hoping he is on a very long honeymoon!! If you are going to rip someone off, why do it over $80?
  • nam812nam812 Posts: 10,601 ✭✭✭✭✭
If this turns out to be a case of last minute wedding plans/problems (both more important than your $80), and a long honeymoon, will you apologize to him as often as you have whined about this?

Probably not. Just like a newspaper, they trash you on page one with headlines and then apologize to you on page 18 in small print.
  • Common courtesy would have been to say that he was going out of town for a few weeks, a month, who cares...and the card would be sent when he returned. He had enough time to bump the card 4 days in a row before i bought it....he could have mentioned it in one of the bumps!

yeah, he could have at least told you what was going on. I pm'd him about this card and I almost pulled the trigger. Glad I didn't.

Not trying to defend this situation but, i've done several deals with Brandon in the past with no problems. Hope this works out for you.

The seller took the money, a simple email would have gone a long way.

The buyer has waited 16 days, more then enough time for the item to have been received.

I see no problem with the buyer asking the board if anyone knows this guy.

The way sellers can avoid situations like this is to mail out the item within 3 days.

Craig just make sure to create a thread if you get your item.

Nick I really don't think the Op was whining, for all we know 80.00
may be his entire monthly card budget.

    Good for you.

    Maybe not in this thread.
  • On a side note, Nick rec'd his card from me in 2 days image

That was me tooting my own horn.

    Carry on.

That going blind thing is a myth, trust me I still have 20/15 vision and I grew up watching Linda Carter as Wonder Woman and Daisy Duke.
  • ** UPDATE**
Paypal credited me for almost all of the $80. Actually $77 and change......

Paypal could not have forced a claim that fast unless something else is up, or unless he let PayPal do it. Kinda strange if he has not contacted you yet. Glad it worked out for you.

PS: craig19 you should not edit a posting 4 days later that started a thread IMO.

I dont think anything else is up. craig19 probably filed a paypal claim, and since bhesler may still be on his honeymoon and not able to respond to the claim within a certain number of days, paypal sided with the buyer.
  • The claim was opened on 10/2/08 and had an expiration date of 10/12/08. They give an additional 24 hours to make sure no info was sent by the seller and then give the $ back if it is still in the sellers account. That is exactly what the agent told me, wheter it is EBAY or not. If the $$ is still in the account it is immediately returned after the 10 days of no response from the seller.

Thanks for the clarification. You started this thread on 10-9, which is when I was guessing you filed with Pay Pal. Most would give a person over a week before filing such a claim.

    His ebay id is bhelser1981
I had one dealing with him in the past, a Modern game used card he said was "pristine" when I recieved it the card was near mint.. Doesn't look like there has been much action on his ebay account lately..

AND, bhesler announced he was getting married on 9/27 and most likely went on a honeymoon right after. Also, he hasnt logged in to the CU forums since around 9/26 I believe, so he isnt ducking anyone.
  • AND bhelser sent me a PM on 9/24 that he was mailing the card and would send me the DC right after mailing it...i guess i should wait until 2010 to receive it? Leave it alone NICK. You are the ONLY one with a problem of me wanting my money back. But based on the PM's i have received, you are the only one with a lot of problems with people!
    Leave it alone!

Am I sure? No. But this is his chance to straighten everything out. I wont condemn a guy like craig19 did without him having an opportunity to state his side. If he doesn't, then I will admit he's wrong, but not before that.
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
I'm not sure I ever saw Craig discredit anyone. He simply asked if anyone had seen him.

Regardless, maybe the seller should have waited to enter into a transaction if he could not deliver within
    a reasonable amount of time.

    Steve
    Good for you.

You know what, I finally don't care anymore about this. Craig, you got ripped off for $2 and change.

    Sorry this happened to you.

At this point I would not say it is just about the money, it is the perceived reputation of a sellling board member too.

Maybe we need to start a new thread called "CU Deals gone bad?" That way everybody can post about the people that may have ripped them off in one place. I actually started this post as a joke but I sort of like the idea now that I type it....

It would be nice to have all the dirtbags in one thread for easy reference.

I would not go as far as calling the seller in this situation a dirt bag.

But at the same time I'd love to hear his side of the story now too.

Yes you're right Steve. That sounded wrong.

It was a generalization on my part. In fact, bhelser participated in the secret santa last year.

From what I remember about him, he was a good dude.
  • I am alive. I had an issue of someone backing out right before the wedding that needed my attention (no not the bride). This is 100% my fault, I did not get the card out. I have apologized to craig, and offered to complete the deal if he would like, but understand if he does not.

Nothing was done intentionally here, just had an issue.

I understand that life may be tough right now. But to not email someone in 24 days after they have sent you money is unacceptable. And on top of that, a Paypal dispute went unanswered.

Life is not tough right now (other than damn Montezuma's revenge!). I had a few crazy days prior to the wedding, and wasn't going to pay the $45 per hour charge for internet at the hotel. I was not able to respond to the dispute.

Like I said, I am not going to try to distract from the fact that this is my fault, but please do not mistake that to mean it was intentional.
