Las Vegas Coin Dealers
Looks like I'll be away from the family in Las Vegas (Nevada, not New Mexico) the second week in November for a training class. Can anyone recommend some shops/dealers to visit? I just don't want to get depressed while I'm there lamenting the absence of my loved ones.

btw... fremontcoin has been robbed before, maybe several times, and they can be a little jumpy, and impatient. Also they tend to push AMark bars, but they probably have some JM and Eng to sell at a much higher premium. Also from what I've seen, the majority of coins I saw were raw.

<< <i>Stop in at Frank's Coins in the Riviera. It's just around the corner from Hotel Registration before you go into Kady's Restaurant. His brother, Patrick, runs the store. If you see something you like, make him a reasonable offer and he will likely accept. In 2006, I purchased quite a few Morgans from him. There was one DMPL that had a price tag of $300, and when I offered Patrick $250, he said, "Nah, just make it $200."

I've heard good things about them as well, and he was a nice guy when I went into the store, however, the pickings were very slim....multiple times.
Also, if you do plan to go, you may want to call them and make sure someone will be there. I talked to him and he said he comes and goes as he wants depending on how he feels and also if anyone is in the store or coming in. You can go at 3pm on any day of the week and no one will be there if you don't call ahead and he doesn't feel like being there.
For the general question of shops in vegas, do a search.....a few of us have posted. I will say, if you just want to browse, sahara coins isn't bad but they did move further away from the strip. However, if you want to buy, I found them not that friendly, very overpriced on common looking, common material, and not open to negotiations....they have a box where they say something akin to: Make an offer, if we like it, we will accept, if not, we only take 1 offer per day.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
i'm more then welcome to run around a couple shops here saving ya the cab fare and maybe we can put a lil vegas cu forum get together at a dennys or something.
i've only found one shop here but it's a store front "per se" operation that the guy is class beyond class but he doesn't stock his office...oh well.
sahara coins is a classic in upscale appearance but a lil cold if you know anything or are not in their circle so i never established up there.
franks...after visting their store while they were setting up in another locale other then in the riviera i was told this was just an acquisition locale...i never headed to their riviera stock moving locale...i'd check it out with ya too
pawnshops...most don't trade coins...could be a counterfeit thing of fear...i've only checked 4 of them too so who knows
honestly i'm internet happily bound and need to poke around a lil more but hey drop me a pm...well get au n ag out too as we've never met here but came close
by the way...you won't see me buying not a coin as i've got deals going on 5 that have me as strapped as strapped can be...but i smile knowing how welcome those 5 are to be

that comes in goes to the head office immediately and is sold to Sahara Coin. The head office is in Henderson.
This comes from a manager that was taking in coin from a customer as I stood behind him in line. He would
not even give me the time of day on the coins he just took in. Of course, they were pawned and had a
redemption period or such, I'm sure. The Mom and Pop pawns, are there are a few, would be your best bet
on pawn shops.

If Patrick isn't in the shop, he is likely on the casino floor playing the slots. He doesn't usually stray too far, so if you look around the immediate area, you will probably find him. Like me, Patrick is a smoker, and the new law that was passed a couple of years ago bans smoking in all areas except the casino floor and adjacent bars.

My reason for asking about Las Vegas was I just wanted to wandering around to see what other shops are like. I buy most of my coins via BST, Empire Coins (AZ) and at the few shows I've been to. I just like the shops because I can put my hands on the coins and see them up close and personal.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
