Scary little advert I got today
I buy from DLRC now and then. Just got an e-mail touting the benefits of the DGS grading company in conjunction with selling your wares on DLRC.
One sentence makes me sad for DGS. The comment dashes my hopes. I saw it coming.
"...Here at DLRC & DGS, we are filling this void for collectors who have coins of varying quality..."

I'm sorry if this is poof worthy. I just saw this as an unfortunate statement. While it is absolutely true that every collection has coins of varying quality...this is not quite what I take the statement to mean given the whole context. In my opinion, they are addressing the problem coins that folks are nervous about sending to PCGS because of a body bag (with good reason I might add).

I'm okay with this statement. TPG's that grade problem coins are indeed doing collectors a service in my opinion just as long as they get it right.
<< <i>PCGS does offer the Genuine Only holders, along with Anacs, ICG, and NCS all the problem coins are well covered via TPG's. >>
Not too many people are willing to fork out $100 for the slabbing at PCGS plus $15+ shipping each direction for a problem coin.
DGS will have a long way to go before even being considered as a viable TPG. They'll have to grade thousands of coins and they know it, therefore, send out a flyer in the cheapest possible manner.
The name is LEE!
PCGS has left the market for slabbing lower value coins to others. Their base price and shipping charges are just too high. In addition, many collectors want all the coins slabbed even if problems are noted. They do not want to pay money for bodybags.
And agree that several thousand coins would need to go through their system to start to "prove" themselves as a serious TPG.

BTW don't know who you guys are talking bout.
<< <i>I didn;t interpret the statement to mean that specifically. I only interpreted the entire email as a promo to drum up business.

My guess is they will have to offer next to free grading for a while to drum up enough business. Maybe offer free grading for a month through Teletrade and Heritage etc...
