Chicago fire started this day in 1871. Post a melted coin
On Sunday evening, October 8, 1871, just after nine o'clock, a fire broke out in the barn behind the home of Patrick and Catherine O'Leary at 13 DeKoven Street.
Got a burned, scorched, baked, melted coin?
Post it here in rememberance of Mrs. O'Leary's cow.
Here's one I found.

The worst forest fire in history.
It's just the coincidence of all these fires taking place at the same time!!!
Sorry, no melted coins from me
<< <i>There is a theory that the cause of this fire was from an asteroid that split and first landed in and around Chicago and spread north to Wisconsin and east to Michigan.

Wow, now that's interesting! I guess if it was a piece of an asteroid that hit her barn, Mrs. O'Leary's cow probably did "kick the bucket".
Thanks for posting the link to the Great Pestigo Fire - it fills in some of the details I had not read about.
As a native Wisconsinite, I can tell everyone that most Cheeseheads have never heard of this disaster. I was fortunate to have a college roomate from Peshtigo that filled me in over a few pitchers of beer.
