    Seems like the Martin Van Burens are slower to pull 69's.

    Tide? Arm and hammer Clean Burst Powder!

    Dealers will search the satins/pres until it is not economical to do so.

    Please don't take this wrong but I have wondered this since the induction of this series in 2007. Why do you guys collect these? Do you like the look of them, does the registry and its competion have something to do with it or..... what?
    This is not a bash I just want to know.

    Thanks.

    As for the Presidential Dollar series.
    Thinking that it might be fun to collect and study as the Presidents were released.
    Easy set of only 17 coins per year with Proof & Satins, RIGHT !!!
    Of course, I had no clue as to what a massive set this was to become.

    I collect the Satin Finish coins even though I prefer business strikes because it is only a complete set with them.

    I have done the same with my SAC dollar set.

    Who knew that A & B would have been in play, then came the Missing Edge Lettering Washingtons,
    the Adams Mels and Doubled Edge Lettering and finally the Jefferson Partial & Weak Edge Lettering Coins....And the rest is now history.

    Now, we have Satin Finish Weak edge lettering as well.

    Just wait, the Sac Dollars are going to have A & B positions and errors as well starting next year.....

    I collect these for the same reason that fellow collector stuck away that 1793 cent amidst the cries of "don't be foolish, spend it! There are thousands of these!" Or that fellow that stuck away one of those Washington Commemorative Quarters back in 1932 amidst the looming depression.

    I collect them to try and preserve good quality, high grade specimen's for possible future collectors. If somebody doesn't do it, then nobody will and good specimens will be difficult to obtain.
    I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    LOL, I just love monotony.image

    I personally think the presidential series is a great idea from an educational standpoint, in that they would help everyone know there presidents. My problem is i just can't get used to the designs. I know others like them, I am just not one of them.

    Some of the Pres Dollars could have been done nicer on the portraits, but they are educational.

    Now we will get some educational reverses on the Sac dollars coming at us!

    Yes, I am certainly looking forward to the MEL Sac Dollars and Weak edge lettering Sacs.
    Any idea on who they are going to feature on the coins?? I recall Jim Thorpe was a possibility but really shouldn't guys like Sitting Bull and Geronimo be on the coins too??

    RE: SAC Dollar Reverses..............

    Among the reverse design suggestions in the bill:

    (I) the creation of Cherokee written language;

    (II) the Iroquois Confederacy;

    (III) Wampanoag Chief Massasoit;

    (IV) the `Pueblo Revolt’;

    (V) Olympian Jim Thorpe;

    (VI) Ely S. Parker, a general on the staff of General Ulysses S. Grant and later head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs; and

    (VII) code talkers who served the United States Armed Forces during World War I and World War II

    As for the educational aspects of the Presidential Dollars?

    I always knew who the 1st President was! Heck, everybody knows that! But now, I know who the first 8 presidents were.

    But, ask me that in 4 years after I've gone through another 12 or 16 presidents! I'll probably answer the same way I answer about the State Quarters which is "Uhhhhh....let me check my collection!" image

    Lee,

    It's like juggling, after adding another one every few months...Agreed it will get tougher to remember.

    I find it hard to remember what coins I need for my sets and this is only the 2nd year!

    I noticed that the complete set composition was 56 coins at the end of June and is now 62 for 2007!

    WOW! I would have never imagined a set being that large for only one year and it seems to be growing regularly.
