Revised my auction template a bit tonight and added Google Checkout to the payment methods....I just put it in the text, that's all. Got this message:
Attention Sellers!
It appears you are offering Google Checkout as a payment method which is not permitted in the eBay marketplace. Buyers have a wide variety of choices when deciding how to pay sellers. Most payment methods offer a high degree of safety and convenience, however, a few simply are not appropriate for the eBay marketplace. Based on safety concerns and input from the Community, eBay has established an Accepted Payments Policy that clarifies eBay's position on payment methods.
Please revise your listing by removing the non-permitted payment method.
They have a bot searching every auction for "google checkout". Wonder what else they're searching for.
I think it is clearly anticompetitive that they don't accept any form of electronic payment they don't own.

stock owners want higher profits... and they will try everything they
can get away with until someone sues them or customers start
leaving.
it will take years and years for the gradual decline we dream could
possibly happen to them... and someone else eats their lunch.
i really do not mind. ebay + paypal is a winning combo for me.
i will stop using it when i can no longer make a profit.

I don't mind paypal either but some buyers don't like it. I try to bend over backwards for customers. They seem to enjoy the adverserial relationship. I may have achieved your last statement but haven't given up yet....--Jerry
