Russian ebay auctions

I casually bookmark russian things on ebay just out of curiosity to see where they finish. I would not have guessed the final bids on either of these auctions. I guess the russian buyers have not backed down after the recent russian stock market turmoil.

Both of those coins sold to people registered in the United States.

    Nice coins.

The seller of the second piece has an unfortunate choice of handles, though: "atcoins". With a store called "AT Coins and Collectibles".

Guess he hasn't hung around these forums. It would be all the funnier if he had a bunch of artificially toned coins for sale.

(I know, I know... there is just no predicting what I will find amusing after 3:00 in the morning.)

Many Russians have family, friends or business associates in the US who bid for them on these expensive items. It helps them avoid problems with theft in the Russian mail system as well as avoiding customs charges when importing the item.

I miss the days I could buy choice Russian coins on the cheap. Frankly that pursuit has gone out the door of late. I have even thought of selling all my Soviet coins and some of the Tsarist coins because of the prices they get these days. Some of the coins, like the Siberians I will hold onto because it took so bleeping long to acquire a nice choice type set of them.

Do you have a photo set to share of the Siberian coins? I don't think I've ever seen one.
