When you attend a coin show, do you stop by to say "Hi" to dealers who post on the forum?

First you got to realize I ride a Harley and I'm not a clean cut rolex riding yuppie. I kinda look like Charles Manson just blew in with the Hells Angles and after riding 600 miles on a bone jarring piece of junk I feel kinda rough too.
I like to stop at the dealer's tables and stare at them real mean like then say "I'm Dog from the PCGS board." Most of them shriek like a girl and dive under their tables. All except Laura Legend; first time I pulled that on her she leaped across the table and started stomping my arse, right there in aisle 2.
The shows go quite well, all the weasels, scammers & so-called dealer crybabies from the board seem to be absent from the shows.
I've probably met about 100 people from this board & liked them all.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

Sound like a pretty cool dude to me... if you're ever on my side of the world and see my sign at a show... stop on by and say "hi" big dog...image
Re: Slabbed coins - There are some coins that LIVE within clear plastic and wear their labels with pride... while there are others that HIDE behind scratched plastic and are simply dragged along by a label. Then there are those coins that simply hang out, naked and free image

<< <i>I'll usually stop by and say hi to only a few dealers I know or with whom I've done business...if they aren't too busy when I go by. >>

    Same here.

I always wear at least one nametag-usually more. It's my model car club nametag but it's still my name, right?

We should get nametags for this forum. Just put your username on there and then if you want to talk to people from the forum you can.

I have not, because....I've never been to a coin show either!

I am planning on visiting CoinFest next month however, and if I'm not totally overwhelmed by what I see I will try and talk to people. Expect me to not remember names right away though, it's not an insult, I just have a poor memory image

In fact, I use my real name as my user name on all my message boards that I post on simply so I won't forget what my username is! image

<< <i> I would not know a poster here from anyone else unless they had their screen name posted on their forehead. Well maybe a few I would know only because I've meet them through transactions. >>

    You'd probably recognize me. image

Of course I haven't ever gotten a table yet, and I roam the floors. I always say hi to the forum folk, but usually they come up to me, since, as you say, my forum name is all but plastered on my forehead.

<< <i>We need to print up some pin-back buttons that say "PCGS Forum" >>

There is such a thing. It's copper-colored metal and says "PCGS REGISTRY - CU FORUM" on it. I guess PCGS must've been the ones to do 'em up. They're nice. They have the 19th century eagle on them (like you see on Reeded Edge Bust halves and Seated coins). Funny, I just saw mine last night. I debated whether or not to give it away, because I already have so much stuff on my vest. I think I might have put it in savoyspecial's package- he just bought a batch of Darkside stuff from me for his kids, so I threw the pin in there for fun (I think- I can't find it now).

We Darksiders also had name badges done up for one FUN show, which showed everybody's avatar picture, name, and username. I just threw that one out yesterday, because it was old and dogeared and had an old avatar I no longer use on it.

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

  • I always wear a name tag with my "other" PCGS forum name image to coin shows and make it a point to try and meet as many people as possible that post here.

I always try to say hi to the dealers from these boards, but only after gawking at them from a distance, like one would look at a rock star. image
