Stacks 50 year coins? tokens?

I came across 2 different stacks 50 years (1935- 1985). They look to be the size of a half dollar and made of brass/copper? One is Washington and Independence with 1783 for the date and the other is Lady Liberty posed similiar to a trade dollar. Did they make a million of these? How did you get one at the time? Did they hand them out or did you have to buy them? If they have no real value...... Maybe a die hard Stacks lover might like them. A give a way???
