I must say, I just picked up my first bank wrapped franklins to search. [1959 P] and went back after seeing this list again and the DDR FS-801 and saw that there were a total of five of them in the roll. So now I feel better about that roll. :-) Phew!
Oh, I was going to ask since I read mentioning of 1959 bugs, I happened upon 4 "snot" noses in the roll in addition to the 5 ddrs mentioned above. Would these be BB attributed since they are phillies? There's not much mention on the Interwebz that I have found about what gives the `59 the attribute. But it is the exact same die clash on the four of them...
The '59 Bugs that's been posted on this forum has a pretty strong clash. The clash marks are in the mouth area and would not be considered a "snot nose". I'll see if I can find the thread with the pics of it.
Edit: Here are the pics of the '59 Bugs, it belongs to forum member Tbar.
Okay, thanks for clarifying. The clashing is less extensive as the photos portray. You can see the outline on the reverse slightly, but on the obverse with the snot nose, there's extensive filing just under the nose and in front of the mouth so I'm guessing there was a little work later on done with the dies.
Shucks! Well, not all was lost, some clashes and some ddrs :-) out of a cheap obw! Not bad.
Thanks for posting those pictures. Only read about it on the Internet, but never saw photos. Very cool!
I am wondering about the "optional" status of the newest varieties.
Is the optional status a permanent thing in these cases, or do they become part of the "required" set after this years set judging/ranking is in the bag?

Bushmaster8, pawpaul, myself, skyman, and a few others are all franklin fanatics! Unfortunately I haven't seen bushmaster or pawpaul in like 2 years on here . What types of franklins do you like (toned, white, proofs, or?). I myself love colorful franklins but also like white examples as well.

oh okay thats good info Ill have to bounce some franklins I get back from PCGS off you guys. I love blasting white franklins. Or colorful toning. There is a middle area where a lot of franklins seem to reside that I think is ugly. like dark grey/black toned. I love the varieties too. How about you?
I believe bushmaster8 was banned from the forums a couple of years back unfortunately. He certainly knew his stuff on Frankies though. He might post ATS though now that I think about it. Franklins are the only set I have ever completed, although the set was mostly RAW 63/64. I sold the set a couple of years ago for basically what I had into it.

ATS = Across the Street ... AKA NGC's Coin Forum. The forum is much less active but there are some good people over there. I am over there as well so I can communicate with some very smart people that do not post here, for one reason or another.

Wow, I got quite aways into this post before I realized how old it was...I sensed the age once I'd read a few negative nellie comments that were de ja vu...
I think the Frankies are cool, and plan to put together a set...and yup, the varities will be included...

Pretty much all the franklins skyman has are well above the average example. For me his 52 S is my favorite hands down! An exceptional example both in grade and in color!

My 57-D/D FS-501 is a "snot-nose" also, though not quite as strong as your 53-D.
My '49 BB is on its way to PCGS. It'll probly only grade a 62FBL.

I retail a lot of Franklins to people who are BD, anniversary collectors. These coins have been consistent profit makers at 50-100%.
I like inexpensive pieces under $200 which can be retailed with a high markup.
