This NEWP deserves appreciation: 1817 CBH

Have not posted a CBH here in a while, but this one wants to be seen.

This coin defines why it is so much fun to collect CBH's. Die cracks, lumps, clashes, shooting stars, borderline condition census, and wonderful, original toning all in one neat package. Feel free to express opinions on this. The Overton is easy enough without me having to reveal it:

I love the look of the stars and the die crack at Liberty's head.

Also, the charcoal grey color is nice and even throughout image

It is really more of a deep Navy or Midnight Blue with golden undertones.

Nice looking R4- coin. The cracks are quite interesting, but without the cracks on this marriage it is R6.

That does indeed deserve appreciation, and is a lovely coin.

Better be careful, though, you don't wanna show that around too much.

You might be arrested for having so much CRACK.

Thanks for sharing this one. Great coin. This is one of the varieties that has been popping up a bit more regularly, right? Used to be R4, now R4-? Not that it really matters when the coin is so engaging. Congrats.

i like to think of the era...how much a half dollar meant...how many regions of the us that still barterred as coins haven't made their way there yet
