Based on her annual income, how long would it take Oprah to buy a gem $4 Stella?

With her annual income of 275 million, Oprah earns about $531 every minute of her life (even when shes sleeping). Based on those numbers, she could buy a gem $4 Stella (about 125k) in just 4 hours time!image

    If..........................

    One were available for sale.

Hey, how about we send her a letter suggesting a show on Coin Investments that you can do at Home with Dr. Phil?

As a gift, everybody in the audience gets a historic $1 California Gold Piece!

Then we get everybody on the forums to get tickets for the show!

    What do ya think??
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!
  • Must be nice...

If I was Oprah, I WOULD BE buying a $4 Stella every 4 hours if I could find them image

I read years ago that she was making $60 million a year, sooooooooo, I do believe she could buy a roll whenever she wanted if a roll were available............Rick

Ok, you are correct. They are in the neighborhood of around $220,000. Now Oprah would have to "save up" for 7 hours rather than just 4. Now it doesnt seem like such a great deal anymore!image

I think it'd take a little bit longer than that because you must factor in things such as taxes and whatnot. If they have already been factored in, then ignore this statement.

I thought Oprah made more than $275 million a year...but anyways...

Despite their high prices gem Stellas can be found without extreme difficulty and a few dealers always seem to have one or a few available at any given time. Check out Heritage Auction's Platinum Night sales and there is a good chance that at least one is offered for sale.

As far as patterns go, the 1879 is actually quite common. The Red Book listing is the main reason that the price is so high. Same thing for the 1856 Flying Eagle cent.

    Heres a fun Oprah question...

How much would Oprah earn at her current pay rate if her job was to search through rolls of 2008 Lincolns looking for one without those spots?image

    So she's a Marx sister?
  • It wasn't terribly long ago that a headline blared across the front of the weekly CDN Greysheet announcing that the bid (or maybe it was a sale price) for a PCGS MS66 Stella had reached the eye-popping price of $100,000.

Can you say "bubble"?? Just wait ... what goes up (too rapidly) will come down (with equal rapidity) ...

I would not classify Oprah as a "chick" I have not seen her in years but doubt she has.... 275 million a year, that a lot of cash for a TV show host.

The easiest way to put this into perspective is to consider that O is worth $1B (she is really worth more, but call it $1B). If a top stella is $225K than it costs 0.02% of her net worth. If the average member of this board has a net worth of say $500K, than 0.02% of your net worth is $125. So, O buying the stella is like you spending $125.
Now Mr. Gates buying the stella would be the same investment relative to his net worth as spending $2.50 is relative to yours. So, when you buy a Starbucks mocha whatever, you are spending about twice as much relative to your net worth on the latte as Mr. Gates would be on the stella! Imagine if Mr. Gates decided to get into coins!
