Of course, this does not include mint errors such as sintered planchet coins, clips, blank coins and the like.
Also note that the Weak, Partial and Missing Edge Lettering coins are considered "mint errors" but do not have "mint error" coin numbers (prefixed with an E) so that they can be used in these "Complete Variety" registry sets.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
Weak Edge Lettering (WEL) coins need to appear as if they are Missing Edge Lettering coins at first glance. PCGS is so friggin' tight on releasing these designations is simply incredible! WEL coins should also be so lightly impressed that they have some of the actual letters missing from a receiving such a light impression.
Partial Edge Lettering (PEL) would be the result of either the coin being tilted during the edge lettering process where the tops/bottoms of the letters are cut off or are coins that jammed in the process causing some of the words to be missing.
Missing Edge Lettering (MEL) coins did not even go throughthe process which is pretty much self explanatory.
Below is a WEL coin edge:
