The September Spink's auction contained a boxed set of "Penny Black" medals (BHM 1775) in 4 different medals,
which I thought was pretty cool. The actual auction photo below (!) suggested the medals weren't perfect so I
thought, even if the 1200 to 1500 pound estimate was low, maybe it wasn't silly low.
Wrong again! The lot brought 5500 pounds + buyer's fee, easily eluding me. Perhaps one of the Victorian folks here
took the plunge?
