For the IKE experts
This is a 73-S 40% in the unc blue seal pack.
Looks like it's a minor doubled die on the motto.
All letters of the motto are doubled with minor notching (might not show well in pics through the old plastic)
I know there's a master doubled die for 73-S. Looks like the other DDOs are only on proofs.
Any ideas?

PCGS can get a little picky on later die state proofs though.
Look for a circular die scratch along IKE's neck as this is used for validating the variety. However, on later die states, the scratch may be difficult to locate.
The name is LEE!
The name is LEE!
I don't see that marker on mine.
What's the value on the FS 101?
Guess I have a reason for getting the other edition of the CPG.
I am not too familiar with the double dies, this may help.

Yes it's a blue 40% unc pack (not proof).
On Coneca the only unc they list is a master, the others are proofs.
That's what started me asking about it, I saw Coneca and thought it must be that master.
<< <i>Lee you mention later die state proofs and Grumpy mentions the coin is from a blue pack. Also, the photos do not look like proof coins.

Well first off, you gotta realize that I'm no expert but am a 100% certified idiot so scratch that FS-101 business since that a proof coin attribution!
As for the coin itself, there is a DDO-0012 and a DDO-002.
For DDO-001 look for a dot just off of IKEs nose and doubling in BER of LIBERTY.
For DDO-002 look for doubling in ERT of LIBERTY.
And by all means, ignore the idiot behind the curtain!
The name is LEE!
I don't see anything on LIBERTY or the nose dot.
It looks like it matches the master DDO MD-1, the motto matches and that tiny split on the top of the 7 matches so I belive it's that one. Maybe just a die state that shows it well.
Oh well... figures it's a master DDO.
Grumpy, good question!
The doubled master die that finds expression in all 1973 Ikes is a reflection that for the first time, in 1973, all Ikes had the same high relief design (and on both sides).
On SB (Silver Business strike) '73 Ikes the doubling varies considerably with die state (die state as in die age, though there were a few lightly clashed 73-S SB dies that were put back into production after abrading, LOL), and, MDD plays a big role, even when subtle, in changing the appearance of the doubling pattern, to say nothing of the SB die re-frosting treatments that included at least some general field polishing (that's brand new, good people, not in print yet).
On the proof '73-S Ikes, the double strike with potential for twice-over MDD and the proof device re-frosting treatments variably washed out the master die doubling pattern.
On CB (CuNi-clad Business strike) '73 Ikes, die state is an important variable, even with the new die steel holding up much better and D and P Mints not pushing the dies hard at all becaue the entire production went into Mint Sets. Rob
