Ebay auction #160284701395

Need some help with this one. I never understand the PAYPAL thing. The seller has 5000+ feedback, but the buyer protection is only $200. I see this on some auctions from time to time. Sorry I didn't post a link.
Thanks,

  • That's a fellow board member. What's wrong?
  • His paypal account is probaly unverified which really means nothing in the grand scheme just there is not a Bank Account backing the account. Just don't buy anything over 200 dollars and expect to be protected.

    Leiascards,
"Just don't buy anything over 200 dollars and expect to be protected." It's an Aaron rookie that will likely be $1,600.00.

  • Move along folks.......Nothing to see here.
  • With his feedback rating and seller history I would feel comfortable placing a bid on this auction. If I sold as much as him on Ebay, I wouldn't want a link to my checking acct either. His 5,000+ transactions speak volumes. My opinion.

Thats when you open a dummy savings account and link that to your Paypal account. I would not feel bad buying from him either, but if it does go wrong you will only be protected for 200.00

  • If a claim is filed on the dummy acct, wouldn't that show up as an overdraft? Credit score drops, you lose your house, then you decide to pay bills by trying to break into Rube's cave and get shot with that beautiful pistol of his.

    exactly.

I'm a fellow board member. ummm..........

and I say the below ebay item description, of the item you are referring too, makes me cringe. I feel actual pain reading that. it hurts. it could though suck people like you in to buying the piece of cardboard for a thousand dollars. The winning bidder should go back to the home shopping network, and buy things.

    This is soooo sad ....

"Up for your bids is this NEAR MINT shape 1954 Topps #128 card featuring Milwaukee Braves legend, Hank Aaron! This is "Hammerin' Hank"'s HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE Rookie card! It was graded by 3rd party graders SGC, and received a grade of 84 / 7 (NM)!! On top of being highly coveted, this card is in hard to find NEAR MINT shape!!! The orange just jumps out at you! Thanks for looking and good luck with your bids!"
  • If you're going to pay that much for a card ... why not just spend a bit more for insurance that
    he offers....

"If the card is over $500, it will be shipped with Signature Confirmation and if it is over $1,000, it will be shipped via Registered Mail. I do this for my protection as well as yours.

Insurance is not required, and is usually not necessary, but I will put it on if you so desire. It is $1.75 for up to $50 coverage, $2.25 up to $100, $2.75 up to $200, $5 up to $300, $6 up to $400. Anything over $400, let me put it in the invoice if you want it. I have not had the Post Office lose/damage a Sports Card package yet, but I will apply the insurance if requested."
