So glad he has topped off his career with a 20 win cherry. At least that albatross will no longer hang around his neck. And for a guy to have 269 wins in the AL East his entire career is incredible!

    Here's to you Moose!

Are you serious EF? This has NOTHING to do with him being a Yankee but to top off his great career. Are you sure you are not Axhole cuz if you hate everything NY that much, you have issues.

I feel bad for the good Bosox fans when you get clowns like this on your side.

Since this was a meaningless game in terms of playoff consideration, I thought there might be a back room deal to toss the game to the Yankees. However, Mussina took the mound against Dice-K, so perhaps it was a legit game. Also, Mussina did not give up a run in 6 innings, so he definately deserved the win. I remember reading somewhere that Paul Molitor's 3000th hit was planned. Everyone knew he would get it, but a back room deal decided he would get it on this day against this team..... Also, the last few home runs by McGwire during his 70 homer campaign were gofer balls.....

No matter, Mussina got a nice 20 win season on his resume. His ERA is also in the top 10. He won't win the Cy Young, but he should be top 10 if I am not mistaken. It made no difference if he got 19 or 20 wins this season--one game does not determine how great this season was. This was a wonderful season for him!! He was the ace of the staff once again. People were worried about him last year and for him to rebound like this makes you believe that he can pitch again next year if he wanted to.

You can't be serious? No team wants to lose a game, period.

A pitcher may serve up a HR ball (See Denny McClain) but I highly doubt a team would lose a game so someone could win
    a 20th game.

Dude, did you ever compete on a high level ? Because if you did, then you never want the competition to succeed over you.
Give them respect after they win ? Yeah right.

If you compete for a living, then you are never satisfied. And you are never content when a competitor gets victory over you.

Don't feel bad for Bosox fans. We're very content beating you guys now. We don't want NY to have success, and if any Red Sox
poster here congrats a Yankee for a victory, then they should be questioned, not me.

To not give respect or praise AFTER the game is over is poor sportmanship.

pros tip there hats all the time to those on the other team.

I see where you stand on this issue EF.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • New York Yankees new bosses Hank and Hal Steinbrenner added fuel to the rivalry with the Boston Red Sox with some verbal torpedoes aimed at the world champs."Red Sox Nation? What a bunch of [expletive] that is," Hank said in an interview with The New York Times' Play magazine. "That was a creation of the Red Sox and ESPN, which is filled with Red Sox fans." Also in reference to the Yankee brand name he said "Go anywhere in America and you won't see Red Sox hats and jackets, you'll see Yankee hats and jackets. This is a Yankee country. We're going to put the Yankees back on top and restore the universe to order."

BINGO. I for one was there to congratulate Sox fans AFTER their World Series wins.

EF is a a$$hat. The "real" Sox fans on this board know that.

By the way EF the a$$hat, who cares what a owner has to say. Like that means anything? image Was it not Sox ownership who coined the Yankees "The Evil Empire"?

Be a windbag with your little T-Rex arms flailing away all you want. No matter what you say, you are a stain on Red Sox fandom. You are the same as loud obnoxious Yankee fans. image

Did your owner congratulate Joe Torre by putting his picture up on the big screen during the Yankees last home game ?

Your owner is THE ASSCLOWN, and you and his fans follow right in his footsteps.

You spoiled brats feel entitled to have other teams respect you, when your owner calls our fans F**King Red Sox Nation.

Yeah ok, we'll respect a team and their fans whose owner says F**king Red Sox nation.

Listen, you're no better then your spoiled brat owner, who pays absolutely no respect to anyone.

The only reason you respect the Red Sox is because we don't piss on your team through the media.
Any Red Sox fan who gives any respect to your owner is fooling himself. Anyone who plays for this guy is just asking for
trouble. Just go ask your former manager who was totally dissed by your owner on the last day at Yankee stadium.
Torre was totally disrespected by the Steinbrenners.

    About what ?

Listen, I wouldn't be disrespectful towards a soldier who was forced to fight in an army because he had to feed his family.
But how could you respect any ballplayer that chooses to get paid millions of dollars to go play for a boss who is a total jerk ?

    Steve,

It was just speculation that I think the game was tossed. However, I do think the Yankees really wanted to win, so they got most of their starters, especially Rivera to just create the best odds of winning. The BoSox looked liked they were more concerned with keeping their players loose and having some of their bench get in At-Bats. Dice-K only pitched 4 innings. I think it was just so he got enough innings to warm up for the playoffs--they did not want to overextend him. Also, other pitchers had opportunity with the remaining 5 innings.

With Rivera, the Yankees knew he needed surgery, but played him anyway. Rivera had to pitch through pain, but it was not like he can aggrevate the injury. Had the game been less of a consequence, I am sure Rivera might have been left off the roster.

So, OK, the game was not tossed, but the Yankees prepared well, while the Red Sox just wanted to remain loose and looking forward to the playoffs. That might have made all the difference--however slight.

But, I see you do agree with me that hits or home runs are sometimes awarded to opposing team players--rare, but it happens.

The Molitor planned hit rumor is rediculous. It was his third hit of a road game at KC in front of like 10 people. Missed fly ball to right center played into a triple.

The only response I have for you EF is that you have clearly shown what kind of person you are in this thread. You make yourself look like the clown, no one else has to try.

Dan has it right. You are no different than those loud obnoxious Yankees fans.

And I agree with Steve re sportsmanship. Obviously no one ever taught you what that was all about.

Of course I want to see the Bosox lose but I also tip my hat to their accomplishments.

    Time to grow up.

Im real happy that Moose has new baseball life if he wants it. He can either retire in glory or get a nice new contract and go for 300 wins!
  • Go ask Donny Baseball how he feels about the Yankees.
You know, the guy who is loved by Yankee fans.
Go ask him why he left town.

Go ask Zimmer about working for the Yankees. Ask Zimmer about how they treated Torre.

Ask Bowa, who was probably the best third base coach you ever saw.

Go ask your own people about working for the Yankees. Go ask Torre himself.

OK Yankeeno. If you're going to get moral on me, then let me clearly point out why you need to look in the mirror.

You started a thread about giving props to Mussina about his 20th win. I stated my opinion about it with a mad face icon.

Because I disagreed with you, you decided to personally attack me by calling me names.

So all I did was disagree with your post (and by the way, this is a message board where people are free to express their opinions),
and you go ahead and start name calling.

Do you ridicule others when they disagree with you ? Do you ridicule your parents, boss, wife ? Then
why ridicule someone who disagrees with you on a chat board ?

So you've proven to the PSA community that if anyone disagrees with your opinion, that you have a right to make fun of them.
I did not call you names pal, you did. Nice colors pal.
