The elusive 1807 Capped Bust Half.....heeere bustie bustie

I mean, really. I've been trying to find a nice 1807 crusty bustie (capped), for what seems the beginning of time (or, at least since 1807), in basically any condition that doesn't exceed 500-800 bucks.
Why's it so hard, man. Why?

I know, but you can trust his descriptions 99.9% of the time and he has as good of a return optionas they come.I've seen him describe coins that are in TPG holders as possibly cleaned and the tpg didn't think so,etc.

he has an ex-Reiver half dime on there now that fits your description perfectly. NGC called it a no problem AU-58. Dick says it was cleaned.
btw, Dick is right.

That O-108 would be a "draped" Bust Half not a "capped" Bust Half...

Might be demand for first year of the CBH. Might be because the 1807-1808 are different in appearance then all the rest of the series (my favorite).
Or, folks have figured out the mintage might be much less than reported. Could be they were undervalued and everybody figured it out, and so on.
I owned around 30 of them at one time. Prices have shot up so much I don't go after them anymore.... but don't count me out if the right one presents itself.
I do believe the dealers are asking too much even considering what I've stated. They've pushed it up and up to see what someone will pay. I've certainly paid up for these and enjoyed all of them. I had duplicates of all 4 varieties as well. I kept two low-grade ones for myself. Also, survival is lower than many think, especially the tougher varieties. I think the small stars is the toughest. And of course, to find nice original ones is the toughest of all.
