A converted collector, I didn't think it was possible...

I've come to the realization that I far prefer a crusty original well circulated rare date (particularly early Seated CC material) much more than a MS rainbow toned coin of any kind whatsoever. I honestly never imagined that my collecting interests would do such a 180 deg. turn but it did. Give me a heavily circulated original crusty early seated coin from Carson City over a monster-toned Morgan, Commem, or anything for that matter any day.

How many of you have had similar 'about face' changes in your collecting passions?image

I said a while ago there might be hope for youimage. Now all you need to learn is what is truly original, and most of all what is truly crusty. Too many impostors out there the dealers promote now as "crusty." I wonder why they do that?

Can I tempt you with a Rainbow Peace Dollar?

There is something to be said about "pondering the history of a truly honestly circulated coin". And some of them are quite pretty, too.

  • Does this mean we will be seeing all of your favorite toned coins on the BST soon? imageimage

    But why Dizzy?

    Why did you change?

And given the change, will you sell off what you have to satisfy this new passion?
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I've made a similar move into crusty circ stuff. It wasn't a 180 for me- I always liked the stuff, but I'm looking a lot harder at it now.

I've come to feel the same way. While MS-examples are still plenty pretty to me, I like knowing that a coin actually got put to use in its day, so with that thought, I tend to stick to AU-examples so it still has a nice finish but remains its features nicely. Crust is also nice, though image
