Will the "bailout" help stimulate the demise of the $1 note?

If our illustrious leaders are looking for ways to "save" a buck in the budget because of this "bailout" will it focus more attention on the waste of money the $1 note is and encourage its removal from circulation and replacement with the $1 coin exclusively?

The $1 coin is a far bigger waste of money because no one uses it. They should quit the useless $1 coin program to save money. Simple.

And why is that? I think the answer is green, flimsy and costs us about $500 million more annually than a coin alone would.

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs. —Thomas Jefferson, 1802
