I have cracked about 5 coins only, 4 upgrades and 1 same. Tried crossing 4 from across the street, 2 crossed. I just ran by 6 whitey's during the " celebrity " time at the PCGS booth at LB, was told 3 would cross, I will cross them if not sold in 10 days. Yep, I drank the koolaide.

  • It depends. I buy many coins to sell as is, and don't generally crack or resubmit them. I buy others expressly to crack if I see an opportunity. I rarely send in for regrade.

I RARELY do that. I have several gold coins in inventory which are absolutely candidates for upgrade. One example, was looked at by one of my main partners who is one of the most knowlegeable dated gold buyers in the business and who agreed that the coin was a multi point winner if resubmitted. ( from a 50 to a 53 easy, and probably to a 55 )

I've not resubmitted it but I have in fact priced it higher than what the slab indicates it should be priced at. I don't care if anyone else picks up on it or not as I think it's an upgrade from a standpoint of price, over time anyway.

I have however done it as a service for customers of mine and it's great to hear the response when the upgrades happen for them.

Zero. A premium coin will bring a bigger price. Look at auction results where coins in identical plastic holders bring widely different prices. Buy the coin, not the plastic.
