to save the goverment millions each year

It is my opinion if the goverment is loosing millions each year on minting coins they should think in this way. Instead of putting a date on the coins only put a mint mark in the middle of each coin, (THE CENT AND NICKEL) that way collectors would not hoard any and spend them. I know this will hurt in ways the coin collectors, which I am one. The mint can make mint sets with dates for the collectors and anyone wanting to complete a set can still do so. Again this is my opinion.

I don't think the number of "collector hoarders" is anywhere near enough to even notice their actions. In addition, the government loves it when people hold currency and don't spend it, it is like it doesn't exist.
