Will Joe Torre send Hank two complimentary playoff tickets ?

Would Hank accept image

Hank did snub Torre on the closing of Yankee stadium. So perhaps Joe should be the better man and
invite Hank out west to watch Manny and the Dodgers in the playoffs image

This aint no party,... this aint no disco,.. this aint no fooling around.
  • That is a funny idea lol - send the Yanks playoffs tix. But Tore has too much class to do such a thing, besides I'm sure he'll want his #6 retired in New Yankee Stadium someday. I do disagree with the idea Torre was "snubbed" - didn't you hear the PA announcer say that not everyone could be here to night because some are under contract with other baseball organizations? What was Torre supposed to do, leave his team (which is in the playoff hunt) for a couple days?
  • Sorry for the double post but I just saw this on SI.com:

Many people have been impressed with the Dodgers' recent turnaround, one which will likely land Joe Torre's club in the postseason next week. Just don't count Hank Steinbrenner among them. Steinbrenner, the Yankees' co-chairman, ripped Major League Baseball's divisional system in a column in this week's Sporting News, saying that the format allows teams to make the postseason even if their records don't warrant such an honor. "The biggest problem is the divisional setup in major league baseball. I didn't like it in the 1970s, and I hate it now," Steinbrenner wrote. "Baseball went to a multidivision setup to create more races, rivalries and excitement. But it isn't fair. You see it this season, with plenty of people in the media pointing out that Joe Torre and the Dodgers are going to the playoffs while we're not. "This is by no means a knock on Torre - let me make that clear-but look at the division they're in. If L.A. were in the AL East, it wouldn't be in the playoff discussion. The AL East is never weak."

*sigh* Come on Hank, is it too hard to simply say "Congrats" and then keep your mouth shut?

The Dodgers image We hear all the laughter from dopes about how bad the Yankees are when in fact the Dodgers are four games worse then the Yankees.

imageAll these years I thought the goal was to make the playoffs and then roll the dice. Seems to have worked for a number of teams lately that didn't have stellar regular season records. Thanks for correcting a long held misconception. image

I don't begrudge the Dodgers for making the playoffs. Good for them and Joe Torre. I hope Manny Ramirez pounds his way into the World Series.

It is the bush league children of the board like this threads author who create dopey threads becuase they are more happy that the Yanks missed out this year then they are that the Sox are in. image

This thread is stupid. Hardly funny. New York fans did not create one dopey thread after another when the Giants booted the Pats out of undefeated land. image

Some of us are chuckling not because it is the Yankees but Steiny. Even you would have to admit that they are not without some flaws, like the rest of us. I have nada, zero, no animus towards the Yanks.

BTW how many regular season games did the 2000 World Series champs win in 2000?
  • This thread was started because as a baseball fan, I thought it was unprofessional for the Yankees to not show Joe Torre
on the big screen when introducing great Yankee managers.

I thought it would be funny if Joe could take the higher road and send a gift to the guy who probably chose not to honor a
    great Yankee manager.

What makes it really funny and shows how dumb Hank is, the Yanks beat the Mets in 2000 and won only 87 regular season games. image
