Ok NFL statistic fans, since the 1977 season, what is the best through worst records of the teams?

SanctionIISanctionII Posts: 11,736 ✭✭✭✭✭
I pick the 1977 season as a starting point since the Broncos (my favorite team, duh) made it to the Super Bowl in January, 1978.

Since the 1977 season please rank the teams from best to worst (both wins and losses and winning percentage for the regular season and for the playoffs). I suspect the Broncos are probably in the top 10 since they had lots of success with some guy named Elway (what was his first name?,..........Jim?).

Thanks in advance.

I don't know if the Lions or Cardinals have been worse in that span, but I'm sure one of those teams is in the celler.

What I find amazing about this franchise is the fact that they had only TWO winning seasons from 1976 to 1997!

Also only 8 winning seasons in 32 years

Since 1977, I have these teams as the worst:

    Cardinals 176-296-2
    Browns: 189-237 (didn't play from '96-'98)
    Bengals: 190-280
    Lions: 191- 285-1
    Bucs: 194-278-1
    Falcons: 201-272-2
    Saints: 216-259

Some of the numbers don't match up so I'm sure I messed up somewhere. I just added up year by year records for everyone on pro-football-reference.com and may have missed one here or there. If anyone wants to correct me, be my guest.

People of Ohio, I feel bad for you. Also, the NFC South is horrible!

Matt, funny thing is i remember in the early 80's ( might've been 79 but i think 81 ) the Bucs were actually finally decent and made it to the playoff divisional game. Take a guess who they ran into ? I believe Dallas shut them out , can't remember the exact score but it was 38 or 34 - 0

They made it to the conf. championship in '79. But yes, they lost to the Cowboys 38-0 in '81.

Thank god I wasn't alive for those year. They've actually been pretty good since I've been alive (1991). My dad's a Dolphins fan but he was in college during the Bucs infancy and went over to see the 'fins play in the "Old Sombrero" during that horrible inaugural season but the 'fins barely beat 'em 23-20. His dad lived over on the gulf coast of FL at that time so him and his buds would go over to games all the time over there since tickets were so cheap/easy to get and they could stay with my grandpa. He said the team was horrible (obviously) but it was some of the most fun he's ever had at football games.

Texans have the worst win pct. in NFL history but, they've obviously only been around for a few years. They're 32-66.

I'm not going to count up exact win totals, but it appears that the Cowboys, Broncos, and the Vikings are some of the top teams since '77. There are probably a few others though.

Despite the Bucs terrible all-time record, no team has had less success than the Cardinals. They haven't won a playoff game in like 30 years, LOL!

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

Actually grote, the Cards beat the Cowboys in the playoffs in 1999, 20-7. Obviously, they were the Arizona Cardinals then and not the St Louis Cardinals.
