Dix Noonan Webb

Is there an issue with their website? I know they have an auction that is closing soon and it seems impossible to get into... has anyone else experienced this as well?

Cacheman... I agree, but its just that their web site can not be accessed at the moment and they have auctions closing on the 24th and 30th. I guess I get to call England...imageimage

I also have been unable to get to their website for the past couple of weeks and this is not the first time this has happened with their website.

Should we handicap whether I can even call England?

Access seems to depend on what ISP you are using.

I just accessed the DNW site from a hotel on Long Island. I never have a problem accessing their site from work. However, trying to access their site from my home is a lost cause.

Mr Eureka once posted the email address of someone at DNW to whom one could address this problem with. I never received a response to my emails. image

Well, I am looking at the catalog and the contacts in coin department are:

    chris@dnw.co.uk - Chris Webb
    ppm@dnw.co.uk - Peter Preston=Morley
    jim@dnw.co.uk - Jim Brown

Phone number from US would be 01144-2070161700. Don't forget the five hour time difference from US East Coast. They have some very attractive bits in this sale....

Dittos, the usually horrid connection to DNW.

Coinkat, I would contact Andy and have him review any lots of interest (assuming he's there); his grade opinion is well worth his commission if you are the successful bidder, plus a coin which might look gem from the image may really be somewhat shy of the mark.

Good luck.....I'll be rooting from the sidelines. image

Hey the lightside board people think the Continental Dollar and 1796 2.5 gold will go cheap! NOT!

I've bid on 5 lots. Well at least I THINK I have. I have never bid on one of their auctions before all though I have sold once.
I haven't received any notification, email or other that my bids have been accepted, processed or acknowledged.
    Is this standard?

Yes, they are a bit different. I have often called either the night before or the morning of auction and left bids - I don't recall them ever not being able to execute however...

Their site is so mid 1990's. I get a kick out of the "infotech systems" thing on there. I mean, compare their site to any others and they are lost. I navigated through looking for Irish notes for awhile before I finally gave up because their search is lousy.

  • Coinkat,
It sounds like you've got a problem with your browser. If you haven't already done so,you should upgrade to Internet Explorer 8.I've done that myself,& it's generally pretty good.

That sounds like a plan... what do I do? Remember that I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to these things

As I stated earlier, I believe the problem is a function of your ISP, not your browser software.

I have no problem accessing the DNW site with my work computer at work but have never been successful with the same computer from home. The only difference is the ISP used and the name servers they use to find the site.

I can successfully access the DNW site right now with my work computer from my hotel room on Long Island.

With my own PC my experience is the same, I cannot access the site from home but have been successful from other locations.

Their site renders fine in FF, all I will use, but dang it is a slow and rather poorly designed effort.
