84 o'connell and sons ink pete rose 9's
hey these cards are on ebay.. it is the yellow card and the red card.my friend had someone put them on ebay and several people told me they were only worth like $30..if this is so whay are they going for over $150 right now? auction #'s are #220281626193 and #2202816226781. i traded this guy like $200 dollars of football cards for these cards because i thought they were worth $60. i feel that since that this is his friend that put them on ebay and the auction is private hes trying to get more money out of me..i could see if they were 10's. i have several rare 9's that i have the only 3 graded.. but i would never think they would go close to $200.. i think everyone should bid on it.. don

So, are you saying that you agreed to a trade with this guy, sent him some cards, and he's SELLING the Roses now? You'd better contact him to make sure that you get your stuff back.

<< <i>this whole auction thing with private bidders is fishy, i bid and im not private. >>
The auction is not a private auction. Ebay automatically obscures the bidder's id's now. They have for quite a while now. The reason why your name shows up is because, well, you're logged in and Ebay will ALWAYS show you what you've gid on.

well atleast thats what i have been told. i had a mustang that there were only 58 driven off the line and i had the only one i ohio. this was the rarest production mustang ever produced, i was told at a car show "rare does not mean desirable". so i really do not buy that about the card im sure someone will want it more than me ,but i have already traded for it and he should have never put it on ebay in the 1st place.. don

it only takes a few guys to run a price through the roof. Take the 1987 Fleer Star Stickers Pete Rose in PSA 9. The last 2 Ebay sales:
5/18/08 eBay 28.59
11/6/07 eBay 130.00
The set registry is a powerful drug.

Ive opened over 20 boxes of 87 fleer star stickers, they are near impossible in 10 and very tough in 9.
It's also beneath and a bit to the right of the "L" key, if that's helpful.

I've opened my share of this stuff looking for Clarks, so I know how tough it is to find 9 or 10ish stuff in this issue. My point was, there's a $100 difference between sales.

<< <i>am I the only one that has no idea what this thread is about? >>
no...
the yellow card has a pop of 2 and they are both 9's.
the red one has a pop of 2 and 1 of them is a 7 and the other is a 9. i traded some cards for them and they guy i was getting them from thought they were worth more. basically , he put them on ebay and had someone bid them up to $150 or so a piece and told me he wanted more out of our trade. i told him that they were not worth $60 together. anyway thats what the post is about.. don
<< <i>well after all of that i still recieved my cards.. so now i have 2 9's of the yeloow and 1 red 7 and a 9..but, i still do not think they are worth $150.. don russell >>
Then why are you asking $360.50 for the pair?
agreed, why would they grade an illegal card?
<< <i>umm. because i sold the 7 for $70 a few weeks back. the guy the i gave the other 9 to sold it for $170. why are you worried about it. if you want them make an offer.if you could afford the cards you would not be chasing me all over cu.don >>
It's not about what I can/cannot afford, Donnie. It's about the fact that just because a card is low pop in it's grade doesn't necessarily mean it is rare and/or valuable.
The registry is a powerful drug.
That since his 'friends' sold for X the 2 he is selling, well you fill in the blanks.
That is if I understood his dribble.
Also, is it me or does anyone else think Don has some shady 'friends'?

I'm sorry you (and so many others) actually gave this guy/thread some thought. After reading some of his recent posts and rants, I've concluded that the wrapping is a little too tight on the Christmas presents. Ranting like a self-centered brat and selfish gloating accompanied by virtually incoherent writing makes any point Don is trying to make get lost in the shuffling madness.
