1969 Topps Baseball Questions Tread.

I'm in the process of trying to put together a NM/MT 1969 Topps Baseball
Master Collection and had a few questions that I was hoping perhaps a few of you here could help me out on.

Here goes:

In what series' were the deckle insert cards issued in?
I know they were inserted in the third series for sure as they are listed on the back of the checklist card.
Were they perhaps issued for the first through fourth series' possibly?

Also was wondering just when the small decal inserts made the scene?
I remember them as a kid being in the 6th and 7th series for sure.
Were they issued as early as perhaps the 4th or 5th series?

Finally, for this go round does anyone know how many wrapper variations were involved in the set, or perhaps where I could find that information?

Thanks in advance of any help.
I very much appreciate it.

Kirk I think Dave Jacobs would probably have many of the answers you seek.

Also, our friend Dave Hornish has a site devoted exclusively to inserts.

Google Topps inserts and you will see his paper.

You can also PM those guys over there..............>

I collect this set and the display boxes that went with it.
I'm trying to figure out which display box went with the 6th and 7th series, that year which if I'm not mistaken, I believe these two series, were combined.

I believe the display box that had Frank Howard & Pete Rose on the front of the box was used for the 1rst & 2nd series, I believe the Ron Santo Deckle Insert Box was used for the 3rd & 4th Series, I was told that the Magic Rub-Off was used for the 5th series, and then I was told the 6th & 7th Series, which I believe to be combined, was not issued with an insert.
So if that was the case, did Topps revert back to the Howard & Rose box, that also housed the 1rst & 2nd Series?
That seems a bit odd to me, if that is indeed what happened.

Does anyone here have a recolection of this, by any chance?

Any info at all, is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot guys!!
  • Deckles were definitely in the third series, but I've never seen a fourth
series pack that mentioned them like the third series does.

The Deckle Edge cards are tough to get raw in higher grades. In fact if you
get a PSA 6 you're doing really well.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the PSA 10 collector he didn't exist.
