  • They are likely searched for the Wally Joyners that didn't go out the back door. I would have to examine the product in hand before forking out any money.

Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

wow, that brought me back to the good old college days. If only I'd put my money in topps packs, instead of investing in beer and jagermaester, if only if.......

LOL in his own post he says the are 5-6 dollars a pack in stores which would still be cheaper than his price

  • gotta love craigslist. good for at least one laugh every time i look. sometimes you can't help but feel bad for people who think they're sitting on a pile of cash, but i get over that when they blatantly lie...

This guy wants 300.00 for a 1987 wax box? or case?

    Not sure I understand.

I do know this though a case can be had for between 280.00 and 350.00

So if he wants 300.00 for the case it is within reason, if he wants 300.00 for a box then
Roar I think you could do better.

    Steve
    Good for you.

Ok I read it again and it looks like he wants 300 for a box!!

those packs can be found and they are usually a buck or a buck and a half.

    Roar was pulling our legs?

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • yes, i am of course joking. if i'm gonna spend $300 on 1987 topps, i want 100 Tiffany Greg Maddux please!

Please don't laugh, but I threw in a box of these with my BBCE order Friday. Lots of stars and HOF'ers with no 10's or low pop on 10's.

Isn't there a Bip Roberts in that set? And a 10th year card of Rance Mulliniks? I dare not even VENTURE a guess as to what those would be worth in PSA 8 or higher. It's all too much.
  • A 1988 Donruss Roberto Alomar PSA 10 just sold for $67.

Here is another example of a low pop 10 that sold for 80 x's its raw value.

88 Donruss Mattingly MVP PSA 10

the centering on that Mattingly proves that even graders don't care about that set. he was probably laughing while measuring......

Haha I actually did the exact same thing!

Also bought one at a show this weekend for $5. Couldn't resist...
  • In late 1988, the Donruss Matt Williams rookie was the hottest card in the set but for some reason I never could pull one from a pack. Bought some wax, racks and cellos from TomGshotput on the BST board for my unopened 1973-98 run. He sent two packs of 88 Donruss. I opened one and pulled the Williams RC. Then I checked the pop report and found out there is only one PSA 10. So, had to throw in a box with the BBCE order. At $6, why not?

That is alot of work for 40 to 60 bucks. I can see playing the 86 Topps Nolan Ryan game though.
Currently completing the following registry sets: Cardinal HOF's, 1961 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1972 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1980 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, Bill Mazeroski Master & Basic Sets, Roberto Clemente Master & Basic Sets, Willie Stargell Master & Basic Sets and Terry Bradshaw Basic Set
  • Slaves to the registry

  • << <i> I can see playing the 86 Topps Nolan Ryan game though. >>

Played that game last month. After 6 boxes only had one submittable Ryan. Still waiting on grade to pop.
  • No one has ever made money busting cheap wax and selling the psa 10s. What a terrible business model.

How many employees does a company need to have to bust wax, pick out the 10s(hopefully), put them on Ebay, and ship them out at $3.50 or $4.00, in order to make a profit??

Well, I'm not going to "laugh", per se, but I think 1989 Donruss would've been much better. I just like its design a lot better. image

  • I just bought a display case of 1988 Donruss....it looks cool with the big Dale Murphy card.

PS: I think Hockeygirl went bye-bye.

Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
