Home Sports Talk

If I was told I could only watch one sporting event it would be....

....the Ryder Cup.

I know that football is king and baseball is the National Pasttime and NASCAR is huge, but for shear drama and national pride, this event is easily the most exciting for me.

I was transfixed the last two days and expect to be so again tomorrow. The tension between Lee Westwood and Boo Weekley, the dramatic putts by Steve Stricker and Graeme McDowell, the 375 yard drives of JB Holmes and on and on. Even Phil was energized. I think Ian Poulter could have scared Sonny Liston with that stare on the last few holes. Just amazing.

I truly believe that Tiger's absensce is a benefit to the US team. Not only his not being there, but his not playing. I think the other players looked to him to do something and now they need to make things happen for themselves. And to be honest, I don't think he wanted to play in years past. And look how we did with him. Obviously he is the best of all time, or will be soon, and he is great at match play, but this just did not seem to be the event for him.

We have a 2 point lead going into the singles matches, let's hope for the best.
Always looking for T59 Flags.
