I think the series as whole will increase in popularity. The 09 VDB as well as the earlier dates into the 20's should do well.

No it will not and everyone holding them should get them out into the market before the bottom falls out.

i said hold. this 2009 anniversary will help support the series
in a gentle downturn of the rest of the market.

(when i say the rest of the market, i mean as a whole. there are
always coins you can find that will be an exception).

It is, and always will be a significant coin in the Lincoln Series. For years, uncirculated VDB's were 'a dime a dozen'. Once the TPG's got involved, and we seperated the really nice coins and established populations, values rose to high levels. The widely saved nature of this coin has allowed there be be quite a few 67's and even a 68. In lower MS grades the prices are nice and low, affordable to the novice collector who is just getting into the series. Raw bright VDBs always find a home at nice affordable prices also. But, they are not making any more of these so the limited supply will of course be a factor that determines value in proportion to the amount of new interest and hype that occurs.

Who would not want a VDB Lincoln if they are collecting the series? And, you can bet that if the mint does something remarkable like making that 2009 collector cent a VDB with a wheat reverse...look for 1909 values to multiply exponentally.

I think the entire significance of the 1909/2009 Centennial could be very interesting, to see how it plays out.
