1856 large cent in ms66bn with a good strike and full stars. I could have gone myself today since the kids are with their mother but my son asked if I'd come to his soccer game. No brainer decision, he shut out the other team as goalie in the first half and scored 2 of the teams 3 goals in the second half for a 3-0 win. --Jerry

If you see a 61-D gold dollar, please bring it home for me.
  • See if you can find a 1798 half dollar.
  • Pick me up an 1829 LM-8 Capped Bust Half Dime in AU or so. Make sure it has nice color.

Well guy's I looked for ya but couldn't find a thingimage

I was very surprised to see NGC not accepting orders after 12pm.

I arrived at 1pm, they were still packing and wouldn't take my order.
It was all filled in and ready to go, but no go for them.

I would hazard to guess that nearly 40% were packed and headed home

But I did manage to find something for me thoughimage

why in the world do tpgs setup shop only to go home at 12pm
is beyond me. is it because the coin hobby is so full of old people
    it is dinner time already?

(I speak from experience here, not in coin shows...but similar events)

If you set up doing your thing for the weekend, well, that usually means you've been preparing since mid week, 'on site' by friday and when SUNDAY rolls around, all systems start to say "Exit Stage Left". There is a herd mentality among vendors/exhibitors etc and when **one ** starts to break down on sunday...the fever spreads like the plague. Some flee for the exits almost from wake up, beginning the packing and doing what they can to get a jump on it.

You see....they know they will eventually see all the same people again so why sit there and stick it out watching your watch and the other vendors pack up and go home. (And the feeling of GETTING home after those long events is like drinking fine wine)

hm. it seems why bother stay open sunday then. extend the hours
on fri-sat... sat evening or sun morning go home.

maybe there is a reason for this though i do not understand.

  • You have some really neat tokens Stef.

I have acquired about 120 or so as part of a collections, but none so far appear as cool as the ones you have shown. Keep up the great hunt, I enjoy seeing them. Very Cool.
  • I think the LB show use to run until Sunday, but most national dealers would not set up, so they convention center look like a big cave with a few regional dealers left. So, they cut back to Saturday as the last day, which is about like Sunday use to be.
(Same thing for the Santa Clara show)

I cannot tell you how many home shows I have done in my life.
You know, the home remodeling and new builds for the public.

They in the nicest words I can say.......... suck!!!

When I was younger it was so bad I used to get hammered just to take the abuse from the public.

They were the most impatient, un-sophisticated, cheap, un-informed
bunch of people I have ever met.

I stuck it out every time to the bitter end......because that's what you do.
You never know who is around the corner and have a killer sale on your hands.

But maybe the coin biz. is differentimage

    and its also MHO

While I was there yesterday, NGC announced that their on site grading would close at noon (Friday). Makes it kind of tough for working people to get the needs taken care of. You would think that Saturday would be a good day for the general public (maybe not so good for tpgs). PCGS was extremely busy on Thursday and busy on Friday. They indicated that they had filled their safe on Thursday and had to empty it for Fridays business. I think they had a good show.
