What country(s) did the US Mint produce coins for in 1965? Mint error or fake?

Any know which countries that the US MINT produced coins for in 1965? If at all?

None in calendar year 1964 or 1965 because of the coin shortage.

In 1966 they did some Panama 1/4 Balboas on U.S. clad quarter blanks.

    What ya got?

Here are two pics of what I found:

    Date: 1965
    Weight: 2.5 grams

However, to me it looks like it might be a cast counterfeight. Being that it weights 2.5 grams I thought it could be a transitional wrong metal error. However it most certainly does not sound like silver when dropped. It does not sound like clad when dropped either.

So asked about the foreign thing just in case it was struck on a foreign planchet...but if none were minted then that excludes that possibility.

So assuming that it is fake, I ask "Who fakes a 1965 dime"????? image

  • If you can locate a copy of the 1965 edition of Domestic and Foreign Coins Manufactured by Mints of the United States produced by the Treasury Dept (other years they printed this were 1973,1976 and 1980), you should get your answer.
