My gold Spouse Coin was shipped out on the 16th of September and was sent priority overnight via fedex and it is now the 19th and it is still not been delivered or attempted to be delivered. In fact the fedex page list no information other than

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then question the manner in which I provide it. I prefer you said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand to post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!

I try not to think about what the mint does and why there's no way to predict how soon you'll get a package.

Sometimes I'm the last person on earth to receive something they ship, other times I receive it (apparently) before they send it.
  • Good luck with your gold, i hope it does not get lost in the confusing web we call shipping!

When the Mint says they have shipped it means they have sent your package to thier shipping agent, it usually takes two or three more days before it actually goes to the shipping company and show up in the tracking reports.
  • The US Mint works closely with and also emulates the US Postal Service. There is a clause in their Fedex contract requiring slower priority shipping so as not to upset their sister quasi government agency.

Well, FedEx did give me a 2006 American Buffalo that was supposed to go to someone else. The mint put each coin in a different box and since i had 4 boxes, they assumed the fifth was mine too. I ended up calling the guy and drove it over to his house. Hopefully FedEx doesn't give your coin away.

that sounds like they didn't ship it. Label was printed but Fedex didn't do a receipt scan.

I ordered some proof sets and decided to add a few Jackson dollars at face to my order and think I screwed up---they sent the ups ground instead of Fedex overnight like they usually do my orders.

I have just the opposite experience. By the time they send out the e-mail I usually have the item in hand if it goes Fedex. --Jerry

Same here, Jerry. The other day I came home to a Fed Ex "sorry we missed you" tag on the door, then a few hours later an email came from the Mint saying "we shipped your item today". Gee thanks ~ I'd make sure to be here if I knew it was coming... as I did the next day. I groan because of having to sign for a $129.99 gold 1/10th oz. coin, but a box full of silver proof sets worth a few hundred is left on top of my mailbox a few hours until someone gets home. image

I hope your coin arrives soon, Cliff.

Have bought and sold on BST, many references available when asked.

Unless you have proof, then you shouldn't say that. I get my USMint Fedex shipped packages either the day before the email comes out and status changes, or sameday....unless I missed the delivery and have to wait an extra day

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Cliff,
At the point that you noted above, "Sep 16, 2008 7:08 AM Package data transmitted to FedEx" your package was not yet in the hands of FedEx. I went through this when we purchased the Platinum 2006-w a few deployments ago. As I understand it, the mint will send the "Data" to FedEx telling them that they have, let's say 1,000 packages for pick up. This will tell FedEx how many and what size trucks to bring to the mint for pick up. Of course it could take a day or three for FedEx to pick up the packages. This is how each company sees it.

THE MINT: They post this info to tell the customer that they are ready to ship (See what a good job we are doing) but they are waiting on someone else to pick up the package. They use fancy wording to make you think the package is enroute even though it is sitting on the dock waiting to be picke dup for three days.

FedEx: We do not have to guarantee the overnight shipment until we pick it up so if it takes us two to three days to pick up from the mint, that is when the clock starts.

I hope this clears up your question,
    Ray
  • I Have Several Subscriptions with The Mint for Years, but i now have My First Problem. My (5) 2008 Silver Proof Sets were Left outside on the sidewalk of my 80 unit Condo Building by UPS because no one was home . The UPS Websight says "Delivery Front Door". I called the Mint Right away. They said i have to Call back no sooner then 30 Days before they'll investigate it. Their reason is just in case someone returns it to them! Lol....That's really Funny. What's Not funny is i'm out nearly $250.00 and have no Silver Proof sets this year. They told me NOT to notify my Credit Card company,or it would cancel my subscription! I really don't know what to do at this Point? Ray in Florida..
