MY FIRST EXPERIENCE---STACK'S

After passing by Stacks countless times for the past 15 years i neither have the time or the money or the courage to go inside past those double wooden/glass panelled doors. Usually i would just check out their street window display case and on it they would have a variety of coins from Liberty Head Nickles to Bust Halfs a few Morgans and Peace dollars...not to mention a few gold coins as well. From the street you will find security guards with guns inside thus making it more intimidating but necessary i guess in this line of business.
To make the long story short i finally got the courage to go inside dispite previous reports of unfriendly sales people. So i went inside wearing jeans and a polo shirt and tennis shoes ...hoping not to but waiting to be thrown out back on the street due to improper attire.

As i went inside there was another lady ahead of me waiting her turn to be attended . So the security guard greeted me and asked me if i don't mind waiting and i said ""No"...so he asked if i wanted to take a seat and so i said "Yes thank you "and took my seat in a very comfortable leather sofa in front of which are tables with individual seats where one will be seated and attended to when their turn comes up.
It was a busy friday afternoon for Stacks and so i waited for a while and when my turn finally came up ...the security guard, Jose, apologized to me for the wait. Then i finally got up and seated myself on the table and was attended to with a Smile by this young fella who's name on the business card says Jack McNamara. He was a very pleasant fellow with a smile that would make you say ...Your in the wrong business Jack!!! You should be in the movies or on TV! Yes folks i was disappointed of not being thrown out but was more Happy that i did not get thrown out and contrary to others experience i was very comfortable in their premises.

I even told Jose that he was written about and described as a "Nice guy" in the PCGS boards. Then they all chimed in and chuckled and said that they did see that post . I'm not saying that it did not happen what happened to the other folks of not being greeted by the sales folks as they walk inside. It's just good to know that Stack's is aware of what's going on and are making the effort to be more customer friendly if ever they were not before.

Maybe those other stiff upper lipped sales folks are in the Long Beach show right now and left the pleasant guys like Jack behind...who know's? All im saying is its nice to be pleasantly surprised once in a while. Jose and Jack are indeed an asset to their business. Hope they realize that ...By the way i was looking for a nicely toned Oregon trail commem but most of their inventory is at the Long Beach show right now so i will check back on them in a couple of weeks. ..By the way Jose might be a nice guy but make no mistake he sleeps with his gun!

A report worth reading! Whenever I've been in Manhattan, I've never been able to get over to Stack's during their business hours. After reading about your experience, I've got a better reason than I had before to drop in if I can next time around!
