    Interesting. Raw stats give Jeter the edge, but when adjusted for age and era (and the adjustments appear reasonable) Rose has a modest edge.

    I read this same thread elsewhere (I forget where) and what struck me the most was Pete saying:

    Tell Derek the first 3000 are the easiest. Or something like that.


    I doubt Jeter gets to 3500

    There has never been a Yankee to ever have 3000 hits so I'll take it if he stays healthy enough. The rest is gravy as far as I'm concerned.

    As soon as Jeter makes the All-Star Team (as a starter) at 1st, 2nd and 3rd base, left and rightfield (as Pete did), we MIGHT be able to put him in Rose's category. Until then........................................................(don't even dream about it)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Exactly what? What is "exactly" supposed to mean Paul? Is that supposed to mean that Derek Jeter will obviously and easily have "exactly" one more base hit then any Boston Red Sox player in history in the near future? Or is this comment "exactly" what I think it is. Just more hot air from a Boston fan who cant "exactly" come up with anything better.
