For Frank Thomas cards, PSA 10 always out-sells BGS 9.5...BGS 10 is another story.

  • PSA will outsell BGS 9/10th's of the time. If you do not believe this, as some BGS fans clearly do not, please take a minute and look at the big auction houses catalogs. There are some sets that have a strong BGS following, but I would not say post 1985. More like post 1995.

Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
  • I would strongly disagree with BamaFan. PSA cards are routinely outselling BGS cards for Star RC POST 1985. The only exceptions seems to be Chrome and Auto Cards with a 10 Auto grade or BGS cards with exceptionly high subs. I.E. a Griffey Upper Deck BGS 9.5 with subs of 10, 9.5, 10, 9.5 outsell the PSA 10's. I was exclusively a BGS collector and strong supporter of their product, but have given up on them. I have kept just 5-BGS 9.5 and BGS 10 cards in a collection that was well over 300 and am going back and repurchasing alot of the same cards I sold in PSA 10 grades.

I'd say it really depends on the card and the year. Both seem to sell for about the same for 1989-Present with BGS going for more if the card has higher subgrades.
